so I was reading again(always get me in trouble) and there is a recommendation to run an oil cooler. I have no taken this into consideration. As I wondered Ebay they have them around 40 bucks and was wondering if anyone had tried one of these. I maybe buying a Fluidyne unit as I can get a really good deal.

I was wondering more of what install of one of these units is like?

where do I break the oil flow and add the cooler?

I assume I would add the cooler into one of the front air ducts?

do I need to add more oil since the lines are now going to add extra line for fluid to fill?

is changing oil at the same time ideal as then there wont be oil in the lines and then add oil at the end?

anything else I should know?

i think a lot of people also do a filter relocation and install an inline thermostat (some sandwich adapters have built-in t-stats) when they install an oil cooler. the thermostat wont allow the oil to be cooled until it has reached a certain temp (duh) and usually they start opening around 160* F and are fully open at 180* F. no need to cool oil that doesnt need to be cooled, eh? your oil works best when it is within a certain temp range anyways. plus, they prevent overcooling in colder climates and provides for quicker warm ups.

although ive never installed one, i have researched them a little and i dont think installing one of these systems would take more than 30 mins. as long as you have everything needed for the install.

the added lines and cooler will create a need for a little bit more oil.

ideally youd want to mount the cooler somewhere it will get good airflow. air duct, on your fmic, etc..

changing the oil at the same time would be a good idea. also an oil temp gauge so you can moniter the oil temps.

hope this helps!!
