i havebeen looking at puttin otgether an oil cooler for my ca18det, i wanted to know which adapter to use between the filter and block to run the lines to the cooler, which ones are anyone using, i found this one, but wanted to be certian that it is the correct size sandwich adapter plate, i think all nissans use the same oil filter thred pitch and size just bigger filters on different cars..... is this true?? i see from looking at filters foir the SR, CA and VG they all use the same size thread, jsut different size filters, anyone can help?? are SR and CA oil filters interchangable? are CA and VG oil filters interchangable?? Sandwich Adapter Kits 3/4"-16 Thread1" Thick2 1/2" O-ring

I would say the 3961 looks most likely candidate, the other two I think have a sealing face diameter which is too big for filter.

From looking at FAST the CA18DET oil filter should interchange with VG30E (at least the one used on the D21 trucks), and KA24DE/KA24E. Also interchanges with a bunch of other things, anything using a CA for example, and it looks like some models SR20DE (B13 0890- and 1190-, no end date indication so possibly all B13 SR20DE's)

I think any Nissan filter can be threaded onto any other Nissan... I do know the Z32 VG30DETT filters were supposed to be the cream of the crop of Nissan filters... Nissan has since stopped producing them. They were the 60u00 filters. Nissan replaced them with the generic 55 series filters they use on everything else. Z32s were very particular about oil pressures... the 60s were supposed to be perfect. There were rumors it was actually a WIX filter, but I'm not 100% sure. I do know the 60 will go on the old CA motors, the VG/VQ motors, and just about everything else I've looked at. I also know it will thread on a Ford Taurus station wagon as well (don't ask buddy informed me). The different filters are mostly a size difference... that's all. The 60u00s were some of the biggest available from Nissan.

Both the CA and the VG30DE /VG30DETT use the same oil filter, they are both 3682 (oil filter #), I own both cars and both use thE same filters, Actually I was going to post a similar post yours to see where on earth can I puy the adapter, when it is all done and ready please let me know, as I would like to get the adapter for my car as well in order to use an oil cooler.

You can't use the adapter of the Vg30dett because I already thought about it and I looked at my car, the adapter bolts onto the block and it is pretty flate and weired looking, no way it will work on the CA, but as for the oil filter it is the same filter for both the CA and VG30de/TTthanks and good luck,

Not all filters are the same. Search in SR forums and likely you'll find people having oil filters fall off when using SR20DE filters on SR20DET's (some models FWD SR20DE use different thread or something, I forget what), I've at least seen it reported over on FA and I figure at least one person on NICO would have had the same problem.

Most of the differences are in capacity, and Nissan doesn't spec the highest capacity one they make for every motor, and many WILL thread on without problem between "incompatible" models hence why aftermarket parts store filters often are almost all the same part #, but I know there must be at least 2 variations of oil filters cause I KNOW at least 1 or 2 people on FA reported having filters fall off on their SRs..

I think that is mostly an SR thing. For some reason Nissan has A LOT of differences between the NA SR and the FI SR. It's not like that with the CA. As far as cross block differences I'm not sure, but there are a lot of similarities between the two motors and knowing how Nissan ususally works, I wouldn't be suprised if they did work with eachother.

well what made me think/realise the CA, VG and SR oil filters were interchangable was Power Enterprise, on theie website the have their filters, they have them for NISSAN vehicles and the SR, CA and VG engines all use the same 3/4"-16 thread but different size filters, the CA and VG with the bigger...

the CA and VG30DE/TT uses = OFII-03A ƒÓ65-85(H)¥3/4-16UNFthe SR20DE (P10 & P11 G20) = OFII-03A ƒÓ65-85(H)¥3/4-16UNFthe SR20DET (S13/PS13) = OFII-01A ƒÓ65-70(H)¥3/4-16UNF

i am thinking the only difference is the size of the filter (ƒÓ65-85(H) for the VG/CA and ƒÓ65-85(H) for the SR fwd/rwd) not the thread pitch, wich always seems to be 3/4-16UNF..

but what i was really concerened was if i got the PN: 3961 Flex-a-lite adapter sandwich plate, that it will work cause it was made for the 3/4"-16 thread pattern... and flex-a-lite says that this 3961 part is for non metric nissans (older) it also says ford etc, so the tuarus this may be true too.. for the price i think i am getting one and making my self and oil cooler..
