Ok here is my question off the block /rb25 were can I can the plate to block the oem water/oil cooler that just has 2 AN ports for lines? I want to run 10an lines to a greddy unit/w thermo (on shock tower) then to the oilcooler. This is for guys that have oil coolers on rb25/26 did you guys delete the water lines to the old oem cooler?

... wow!

Let me attempt to interpret this and answer as best as I can.

When I installed a external oil cooler, I used a GReddy thermo sandwich adapter, a Carl H oil cooler, and had some braided stainless -10AN lines made at a local hydro shop.

I removed the 3-bolt factory cooler / oil filter stud.

The coolant hose is 3/4" id I believe (will verify) and the smaller was 1/4" id. I kept them and just re-routed them.

Ricky @ RawBrokerage.com has the thermo adapters as well as the correct oil-stud for your filter.

Nailed it on the head!

Also instead of the stud that threads directly into the block, you can use an RB20 filter bracket instead. I actually prefer the RB20 bracket because it spaces the adapter from the block.

ok so that greddy sandwhich plate is the one that goes directly to the block? then to the relocated filter? then to oilcooler? how does the greddy unit attatch itself?

block -> stud -> sandwich adapter-> filter or filter relocator.

ok wait hold up I think I got it. you run the stud into the block, the sandwhich plate screws on the stud? then run lines to filter relocation then to oil cooler? does the sandwhich plate house the filter? see im lost on this.

why do u need a relocation filter..just run the filter right off the sandwich plate. and use ss line to the cooler from the 2 -10AN fittings on the plate.

Have you ever seen a sandwhich plate with a filter still in oem location. I am really anal and picky about my swap, but after so many oil changes dirt and crap start to build up on the sandwhich plate and the lines. Just by moving the filter 3 feet it stops all this.

I went with just a summit- perma-cool oil filter reloc, then plumbed a cooler into it. it came with a bunch of threaded adapters and what not. and bolted the filter to the side in the engine bay. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G4985/ (not to plug though) and it worked great. some pre-bent hoses would've been nice. and granted not JDM, but like $35 and works great! just used a huge permacool oil cooler too. it takes up alot of space, but it is huge. took the cooler out when i went to bigger radiator, wouldnt fit. and since its getting cooler wont really need it. dont have any pics though.

can you plean explain to me how the hell that kit you bought works?

that sounds awesome for $35 but the picture tells me nothing!

i've always wanted to get a combination oil cooler/relocator since the filter is in such a pain in the a** location, and im affraid of it being a bigger pain in the a** once i install my greddy IM

ok, in the kit has everything i used. there is an adapter that bolts into the old oil filter location. it comes with a bunch of adapters to fit whatever size needed. you just screw that on.on said adapter, there are 2 holes, with fittings for the rubber holes, marked "IN" and "OUT".you use the hose in the kit (it shows in the included manual to go from in or out nozels to cooler and filter, cant remember off the top of my head (as in (OUT FILTER COOLER IN) , cut the hose to length depending on where you need to put the filter.there is a place to screw in the filter (with adapters and in and outs also) and plumb it up.then the other hose to the cooler. there was plenty of hose and clamps in there, i think 7 feet?great deal, and works just as it should. its wicked simple, dont even have to do a complete oil change, just replace what was in the filter + spillage. Wicked product. (even though it may seem like it, i dont work for summit, but everything i've gotten from them has been great!oh, but keep in mind it isnt regulated with a thermostat, so in cold weather may take longer to warm up.
