ok the rails are gaped for the oil control ring, but ive read some people find that the accordian looking part inside the rails sometimes overlaps and was wondering what ur ment to do in this situation. should the accordian looking material be gaped also to the specs of the rails or what. im trying to find information on this subject some people mention cutting it but id like some more deffinate information. this is my first time installing new rings so any info would be greatly appreciated.

i know alot of you guys build motors so i figure uve dealt with this.

im using cp pistons and cp rings.

one more question is the main bolts torque to yeild?

u would think the manual would say something about it, but it doesnt even say the torque unless u look at the engine diagram it says the torque there.

but it doenst mention replacing em just that u should shift the crank in a axial position to seat the caps before torque to specification.

im assuming ill be alright reusing them right.i just dont want to any problems and i cant get the bolts stateside unless i get arps for like 100 or something.

the oil control ring rail is not to be modified, if the rings came with the pistons your all set. The upper and lower compression rings may need gapping, or may not. Fit them in the bores and see for yourself.

the main girdle bolts are not torque to yield, and are reuasble just remember to use a dab of oil on the bolt threads.

thats what i thought but a couple searches on different forums some people ran into that problem and said they cut it, i guess they just had the wrong ring set.
