Oil consumption (on 2003 Infiniti M45)

My 03 is monitored for oil consumption. What has been if the vehicle is consuming to much oil? Does the engine get replaced, or is there some other fix? Thanks.

Dealer replaces with long block.

ONLY if it exceeds OEM specs for consumption, which you may have to complain to them a few times even if they tell you it is OK.

Yup.

Apparently, the threshold is 1 qt used below 1000 miles (and, even then, you may have to force the issue, although they may have gotten better about this).

Which I consider very high use, but that is the criterion used by Infiniti to replace the engine on those problems.

Oh, exactly, it goes without saying the dealer and area service representative have to approve.

You may need to be on them like white on rice, but nicely and persistently.

So I am going back in the next couple of days for my first 1000 miles follow up since they decided to monitor the oil consumption. What happens if they discover more than a quart is burned off? Do they try this test again? Will I have to pay for another oil change? thanks for any help with this...

Tell them you want them to fit Nissans 5.6 liter in there instead!!!
