Oil Consumption Ideas - Rev-up guys, check-in.

Ok. I know at least a few of the 05+ 6MT Gs have had oil consumption. With some, it might be extreme. With others, it might be just a minor annoyance.

Here's what I'd like you to do.

Check-in - I have a 2005 G35 Coupe. It consumed enough oil to be eligible for the TSB and revised engine.

How much oil does your G35 consume - This varies a lot. If the dealership does an oil change, I see little to no consumption or none until after 2000 miles. My past OCT showed no consumption after 3000 miles. Previous tests have shown 1/2-3/4 low from the H mark.

When I use any Mobil 1 product, the car drinks oil like tainted Kool-aid. Not sure exactly how much, but probably 1.5 qts per oil change.

Estimate your city/highway ratio and what your highway cruise speed is.- My current ratio is 5/95 and I cruise at 80 when possible.

Once I get enough responses, I have an idea that might place a cause on this dumb issue once and for all.

My coupe has 50k miles on it. Probably a good 50/50 mix of highway and street driving. The dealerships changed the oil for me up to about 35K using Exxon crap. I then switched to Mobile 1 when I started changing the oil myself. So far, the car has consistently burned 1/2 quart of oil per oil change the entire time, no matter the type of oil used. On the highway, I typically keep it at 75 or less (after my nasty speed violation a year ago). I don't flog the car, never dumped the clutch, etc.

I just took my 04 6m/t in today for the second leg of the consumption test. Used 1/2 quart since being checked last week before I left my on my 1500 mile trip. Last week it was still at the H mark after 800 miles. Today it was 1/2 qt low in 1500 miles. Service rep said she was contacting Infiniti for a new long block. She will contact me in a few days, so we will see. Current engine has 51k miles on it.

It has always burned oil, but seems to be getting worse.
