Hey guys. I'm happy to see a forum about our car I read a lot of stuff before i registered. really helpful information and i enjoyed read haha :D

Well, I have a questions that i didn't see asked so far about oil changing. 1) I wanted to know if you guys oil change in your driveway or in a shop?

2) If in your own property, do you use the pumping method? where you stick a long tube down the oil tank and start pumping out the oil into another container? Would you recommend it?

3) If you oil change in the shop (where the car gets lifted), do you wait until only drops come out of the oil tank, how long does your oil change take?? My car has 23,000 miles and my oil change was like 30-40 minutes. You know that tiny oil strip that seems like it'll never stop, when emptying the tank? I just close it after some time passes. I guess i have really old oil in there huh? Should I wait longer?

1) I change oil in a driveway using ramps.2) It is not possible to siphon used motor oil out from our cars like gasoline from a tank. 3) It generally takes me 30-45 minutes or so to change my oil. There's the setup, waiting for the oil to drain, dorking with oil filters, etc. And I wait until the oil basically stops dripping. It seems like there will always be a tiny amount of dribble, but it's negligible.

using ramps? can you expand on that? Do you go under the car and simply loosen the bolt and let the whole thing drip?

and siphoning the oil, i think it's possible...if the oil is hot enough, no?

I use Rhino Ramps from Pep Boys. Just drive my car on that and it will be high enough to work under the car for an oil change.

In the cold, I let my Midas do it - screw getting under the car when it's 20 degrees outside. I just give them the oil and they do it.

I've never even heard of throwing a tube into the engine...either way for Midas, it takes 15 min - for me, like 45 because you have to first spill some oil on you when trying to figure out which nut to loosen, and then some more oil when you don't get out of the way in time...

I change my oil in the garage with ramps. Easy really.

lol... let this new comer inform you guys.... http://cgi.ebay.com/HARBOR-FRE...%3A50

hmm the ramps sounds like a nice idea though. our filters are under the car right so i guess it's better to go under instead of using the oil change pump.

Hmmm... I guess it is possible. But is it practical? For boats that are "stuck" in water - yes, but I'd rather let gravity work for me when I'm changing my car's oil. I did some looking around, and it is good for removing small amounts of oil if overfilled.

Good find!

For oil filters you guys can use the OEM part#15208-9e000 oil filters, they are the same fitment as the 15208-65F00 but only aprox an inch longer in construction. It will not have any clearance issues. Only recently the downside about these filters (especially the 9e000) are that they are made in China and have cardboard end caps like the Fram products :/.

Yeah.. I was surprised too. My brother's 99 Maxima uses the 9e000 filters and I searched online to see if our cars can use them and I found some interesting facts. I only have one more 9e000 filter that's made in Japan .
