Hi All,

I have '03 Coupe (G35) with 110K miles. Where should I get oil changes done (the dealership charges $60) and how often? The manual says every 3,750 miles.

Also, can I use synthetic oil and if so, how many many miles between changes? I live in Atlanta and am a conservative driver.

Thanks.

Hello

Use 5-30w Mobile one, FULL SYNTHETIC here is the link:
http://www.mobiloil.com/usa-english/mot ... tion2.aspx
You can chose from:
Extended Performance ( guaranty 15k miles)
High mileage for cars 75k or over.

If you need help changing the oil here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDdYuWkWjjg
The only thing that will be hard is to take the plastic of.

Read you manual on how many quarts you need.

Now just stick to Mobile 1 FULL Synthetic.
Dont switch the brands - chose one and stick with that.
In my M45 i use extended performance and I change the oil every 6,500 - 7,500 miles.
I change the filter as well ( I use all mobile 1)

Depends on how you drive maybe you will need to change it every 5,000 or maybe 8,000.

Let me know if you got any other problems.

OH YES - Infiniti want you to change FULL SYNTHETIC OIL every 3,250 miles. There is no point in putting the SYNT oil if you are changing it that often. Also at 114k you will have to change the spark plugs, maybe check the belt, look at the transition fluid... basically all the fluids.

Hope this helps

Thanks. Yes I had the spark plugs checked and the belt changed about 6 months ago. All fluid levels are good. I had a leak in the radiator 2 weeks ago and had to have that changed, so the dealership checked all fluid levels (don't ask me how much I paid for a new radiator, hoses, coolant, radiator cap, etc at the dealership!!

So I should change every 6-7K miles even though the FULL SYNTH Mobil 1 guarantees good performance for 15K miles?

Where can I get the oil and filter changed? I'm not big at doing it myself.

I know that dealer charges like crazy. BTW dealer DOSE NOT check you fluid, they base "fluid contamination"of a car mileage.
Well Mobil 1 dose guarantee 15k but I just change it every 7k. I have 2006 M45 with 83k on it. If you are trying to keep the car until the 200K I would suggest every 7k change filter and oil. AND DONT FLUSH YOU transmission FLUID! At least not with the flush machine. Your transmission should be drained and filled with NISSAN MATIC S ONLY THIS FLUID every 25,000 to 30,000 miles. Drain and fill would be opening the drain plug and waiting to drain (it will drain 2.5 - 3.5 quarts) and than just pour Nissan S into it.

I live in Dallas and I dont know any in Atlanta, but if I had to change oil somewhere I would bring my own oil and let them use it.
In Dallas Kwik Car is a good place. I really dont know about any others. But if dealer is charging you $60 for SYNTHETIC OIL( dealer uses Mobil 1) I guess that is not that bad. Because you will end up spending for oil $24-28 and filter $8-12.

Crest Infinit in Dallas charges $75 + tax.

So 60 is not that bad. Unless you get tools to do it.

Take care

Thanks. I don't think the dealer uses synthetic for that price.

Anyway which brand of full synthetic oil is better? Mobil 1, Valvoline or Kendall?

Thanks!

I've used Royal Purple for years and have had great results! Changing the oil is very easy, just take the time to remove the plastic shield...it will make the job easy and clean.

Yeah the splash shield takes forever to remove. Putting it back on is almost worse than taking it off.

The dealership told me that those who go 7-8k miles between oil changes, even if they use full synthetic oil, end up having to have their engines replaced more often than those who change oil every 4k miles. Somehow I don't buy that.

Also the Infiniti manual recommends "mineral oil" which, I think, is conventional oil.

Any comments?

Since I never hit the mileage, I change my oil based on time. Every 4 months is my goal. Using a good synthetic will resist break-down better then conventional oil.
