I have an 07 G35 sedan. It is time for its 1st oil change. Should I let the stealership do it or should I do it?
Until last year I've always done my own maintance and repair then we bought a 07 Toyota Sequoia Limited and I was a little nervous to do maintance on a $50,000 vehicle. I did the first oil change at 1000 miles and switched it over to Mobil 1.
But then at 6,000 miles the service engine soon light came on. I did another oil change and drove it another 500 miles. Turns out Toyota doesn't want you to do your own maintance and you need a ODBII scan tool to turn the light off?
So every 6,000 miles or so I visit the Toyota dealer for a $100 oil change that I could do myself for about $27. The only benifit that I can see is less resistance to a serious warranty claim. On the other hand its a friggen Toyota nothing will go wrong in the first 200,000 miles and I'll trade it when its 3 years old anyway?
But I degress, who here services their 06-07 G35 themselves?
Thanks,
Jeff
