Hey everyone, so I just did my first oil change on my car and have made the switch to synthetic oil from valvoline. Anyone know how often I should change the oil now? Ive read about every 7,500 to 10,000 miles.

Thanks!

Generally it varies a little depending on the brand. I personally change my oil every 3000 miles. I like keeping it really clean.

manufacturers claim 7500 is good but thats if you drive like a 99 year old grandma, on a constant flat surface, 10 miles under the speed limit. If you buy good synthetic oil, drive in normal conditions, and want to keep your car for a while I'd give your oil 5000 miles.

3750 so you don't void the warranty.

There is always the war of reg oil vs synthetic and pros and cons to both as far as new or old vehicle is concerned. Im sure their rec's are true and you could put on that many miles but being that the cars are relatively new, id stick to the 3k/3 months rule regardless real oil or synthetic. It can't hurt to do it every 3000 miles or so. Personally, i take mine to the dealship and they do what i need to it and they are well priced, no stealership prices for me when it comes to that, plus the car is still under warranty so if i have any issues they can take care of it all.

If you really want to know, consider getting a used oil analysis with TBN. FWIW, my next oil change will be at 6,000 miles.

3750 miles, regular oil, no need to spend extra on synthetic (unless your manual calls for something different than standard)i've never noticed a difference when i used synthetic, and i never trusted it to last more than 3-4k anyhow, why chance it...you blow your motor at 52k and you only have receipts for oil changes at every 7500 miles, nissan does not have to do it under warranty, it clearly states to change every 3750 miles, they porbably will anyhow if you fight it, but they don't have toi don't think you want that 5k plus expenseif the engine is gonna have problems it will, not every engine is perfectwhy spend the extra on synthetic, the most important part is the filter anyhowand yes, take it to the dealer while under warranty, i dont know about other dealers, but if you bring it to me and aren't complaining of something and i notice, ill let you know about it before your warranty runs out
