$200!!! please tell that included a lapdance or happy ending or something.... I pay less $50 for my oil changespfarmer wrote:Ok, today I had my oil changed using Ester. I took it to Nissan since when I had this quoted at Infiniti it was about $200 and Nissan was about half that.
Now the question is the cost of the Nissan oil. When I first went in today they quoted me $28/qt. I previously had the cost of $12/qt. quote and told them that. They changed it based on the previous quote.
Now the question what is everyone else paying for the Nissan Ester oil?

p.s. Picked up 12 hp at the wheels and gas mileage rose to 28.5 .
The same way everyone else has who ever put on a grounding kit, changed their mufflers, or added brand x intakes. I felt it in the pants. I even got a half dozen from the aerodynamics gained by waxing the car last week.audtatious wrote:How did you determine you picked up 12whp from the oil change?
Note this is sort of an experiment with this oil. I figure if it is better for the G37s then it may also provide some benefit to a G35, again an experiment.jmcohen23 wrote:

Guess I need to hang around here more as I totally missed the unnecessary sarcasm.pfarmer wrote:

No need for the fancy erl fer me... But $200 is good too....
I'll only charge you $28.75 if you stop by the house! (however, tips are welcome )G37 Man wrote:Anyone use Mobil 1 EP? stuff was only $26 for 5 Qt's at Wal mart and I'm thinking of trying it and letting dealer put the oil in for $29 labor charge.
I will not spend over $100 for an oil change.
The $200 quote is from Infiniti Of Fife. The local Nissan dealer wanted close to that when I went in until I told them I was previously quoted $12 a quart not their $28 a quart now. What is the price of the oil at your dealer which is what I am really asking from others as well?Poyzinous wrote:perry are you drunk? or on drugs? At my dealer its $120 for an ester oil change. Why did you get quoted 200? was that including a dyno run for your 12hp?
You really can't do that above the 6,000 foot level.telcoman wrote:

I've done 28 oil changes so far on my G all under $20.00 including oil filter.
How did you calculate your mileage?
Were you rolling down hill from the summit of Mount Ranier?

One needs to calculate the true cost of an oil change. You change it to keep it clean, certain oils will go for far more miles than others. So lets say you can go 10,000 miles instead of 7500. That is an increase of 25%. So now you take the roughly $60 oil change and it becomes $75. Since oil is a contributer to gas mileage lets say that you end up gaining 1 mpg. If in my example I was getting 21.9 and now get 22.9 that is an increase of a little over 4%. So for every 10,000 miles I now can go 400+ miles for free. At $3.00 a gallon for gas that is at least $54.G37 Man wrote:Anyone use Mobil 1 EP? stuff was only $26 for 5 Qt's at Wal mart and I'm thinking of trying it and letting dealer put the oil in for $29 labor charge.

Yes, but the rest of the equation is missing. Is there a plus, a minus, or an equals with other parts of the equation such as mpg, wear, etc.? Not stating there is, but this is an experiment on my part to see if this Nissan oil provides any tangible benefits that could outweigh its increased cost.G37 Man wrote:ac
if I buy the Mobil1 EP for $26 for 5 Qt's and have my infiniti dealer do the change for $29 labor(by the way prefer they do it as G37 only has 12K miles on it)that comes out to $55 before tax and with EP,can go at least 7,500 before next oil change even if they say it is good for 15k oil change interval.
Dealer is ask $10 QT just for Mobil 1 plus labor.
