Oil Change Suggestions

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I am in need to get my EX35 oil changed. I did not buy from an Infiniti dealership. Does everyone get their oil changed at an Infiniti dealership or do you just take it to the closest dealer (chevy, ford, etc)? I live in a rural area so the closest Infiniti dealership is 1 hr and 10 min away.

I used to take mine to my local Infiniti dealership but then I just started to do my own after the vehicle was out of warranty. I would pay about $40 at the dealership, for a conventional oil change. I would assume any oil change place (Valvoline, Jiffy lube) would be fine. If you have a Nissan dealership nearby you can even bring it there.

I've never tried one of those quick lube places for changing the oil of any of my vehicles.

I've had my EX's oil changed by me and the Infiniti dealer. Oil changes on this car don't require any specialized knowledge, so I'd say to bring it to any shop that you trust, whether it's a dealer or local mechanic. While I personally wouldn't go to a quick lube shop, if you've been going to one for a while and haven't had any issues, it should be fine as well.

I have done mine in the garage every single time. Full Synthetic and a nice new filter. Takes about 20 minutes, tops...then I don't worry about what they used, if they tightened everything, if they made a mess, ETC. I can't imagine paying someone to change my oil..

I just had mine done at a Mr. Lube yesterday. I was going to do my own, but then it got cold and snowed and I had already put it off longer than I'd like. Plus I needed new wipers, and they had a promo where you got a free set w/ an oil change. So having them do it ended up costing my an extra $10-20 over doing it myself. I'll be doing the next one myself though, it's pretty easy on the EX.

OK - good point that I didn't even consider is many of you live in climates that make changing your own oil not very fun! If the temp was below 60 degrees (f) - I would wait till it was between 70-110 instead! brrrrrrr. my blood is thinner than water.

60 degrees (f), lol I sadly won't be seeing that till like April lol. The odd day here and there, but definitely not consistently.
