Welcome the NICOClub Rogue Forums Tailuu!

Nissan cannot VOID your warranty. They can only DENY warranty coverage for repairs if you have failed to properly maintain the vehicle. Going a few hundred miles or even several weeks past the oil change date is not really grounds for warranty claim denial.

Now, if you don't change your oil for a year... that would be considered lack of maintenance and Nissan may have grounds to deny any warranty coverage. ie. for a damaged motor caused by lack of lubrication.

I believe that for a 2011 car with that low mileage, the first oil changes are vital. 3 Months / 6000 kms whichever comes first.

An oil change is $40 including tax. I know for some people 40 bucks is a big amount, but you if own a 30K car, you should spend some for its maintenance. Don't just think about warranty, it is just a simple oil change, and oil is the most vital fluid for the engine.

On the other hand, I still don't understand why I have to change the oil every three months??? I understand the km/mile necessity, but why "three" months? I changed my oil exactly 90 days after I purchased the car, with 2000 km on it! Yes oil will loose its viscosity and by the time its quality will be lower, but come on, even if you change your oil with synthetic, you MUST change your oil every three months (plus as Philipa said add 2-3 weeks to that..lets say "four months"...). That is how dealers make money. I can't find any other explanation.

New car so clean air.filter so I don't think the combustion chamber would have a lot of carbon to clog up my pick up tube. I kinda wanna wait after 2 weeks to change it.
I don't floor the car a lot so I'm not burning oil when hitting variable valve timing of this car.

Dont wanna waste the money on a early oil change when gas prices are going up.

So ill probably get it changed next week then. Do you walk in or have to really schedule an appointment

From the 2011 service manual:

SCHEDULE 1 (more severe operating conditions), every 3,750 miles or 3 months, whichever comes first. Use Schedule 1 if you primarily operate your vehicle under any of these condtions:
● Repeated short trips of less than 5 miles in normal temperatures or less than 10 miles in freezing temperatures
● Stop-and-go traffic in hot weather or low speed driving for long distances
● Driving in dusty conditions or on rough, muddy, or salt-spread roads
● Towing a trailer, or using a camper or car-top carrier

SCHEDULE 2 (less severe operating conditions), every 7,500 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first.
Schedule 2 features 7,500-mile service intervals; with Schedule 2 fewer maintenance items are regularly checked or replaced than with Schedule 1. Generally, Schedule 2 applies only to highway driving in temperate conditions. Use Schedule 2 only if you primarily operate your vehicle under conditions other than those listed in Schedule 1.

Purchased my '11 Rogue last October, and took it in the other day for it's first oil change as it had just hit 7500 miles. The service rep seemed a little surprised that this was my first oil change, but didn't make an issue of it. Mind you, the little window sticker they put on my window indicates i sould return in 3 months or at 11,000 miles, but clearly that's not necessary.

Cost me $63 for oil change and tire rotation. On a side note, I had them check the USB port for the radio as it didn't seem to work. Turns out the head unit is defective, so they've ordered a replacement.

There is a simple reason why oil must be changed: To flush contaminants from the oil.

Water, gasoline, carbon, and metal deposits can accumulate in the oil. Sulphur is also present in the oil and when mixed with water under the heat and pressure of engine operation, it can form sulphuric acid. All of these can break down oil destroying it's lubricating properties and harm your engine.

Short trip city driving actually worsens oil contamination. Reason? Cold starts are when much of the contamination occurs. If only drive short distances, it's even MORE critical to have the engine oil changed at regular intervals.

Long distance driving (>25 min) is actually better for your engine. This allows the engine oil to warm up sufficiently so that some of the contaminants (water, fuel, etc) can be evaporated where it can be drawn into the engine to be burned. This is why Nissan suggests the longer interval under Schedule 2 if you do primarily highway driving.

So why the 3 month interval? Because the length of time those contaminants including water and acids stay in your engine, the more likely damage can occur. It has nothing to do with mileage!

So I'm wondering then why Jiffy Lube dropped it's 3,000 mile frequency stance and on some models,Toyota recommends 10,000 miles, which under normal driving conditions would well exceed three months? The 3K/3mo. rule is fine for older vehicles, but overkill for current production vehicles.

It's really more overkill for current oil.

Nissan recommends 3mo/3,750mi oil change intervals (schedule 1). They designed and built the motor so why should we doubt their recommendations? Is it really worth risking warranty issues and potential engine damage by disregarding their oil change recommendations?

An oil change is ~$35 or less... a new motor is $5000. Take your pick!

The Ways Off business now a days.
But I'm assuming I could get away with a week or 2 with out it messing with my warranty, since I'm not getting straight forward answers.

But Thanks for welcoming me to the Forum.
I don't wanna start a fresh thread so,
Is there any problems that you guys expect me to run into that you guys have problems with?
For example What parts usually wear fast?
I'm new into the Nissan Game, Sorry.

Yes, a few weeks or a few hundred mi. either way shouldn't hurt the vehicle or warranty.

I went go get my oil change today and I use the one to one card to get it paid. And when I got my car they gave me 3 of those card.
But.the.thing is that the lady swipe the card and gave me back the card. So does that mean I could still get another free oil change with.that card?

My dealer has free oil change for life. They change mine every 3750. If it is overkill at least it is free. About time for the 15k and they are charging $250 tax included. Does that sound right?

For one oil change or for all the oil change up til 15k. That's seems pretty expensive for all oil changes up til,15k it should be around 150 - 200. Cause its 32.38 a oil change including tax.
Are tire rotation and cabin filter included?
