Oil change from hell

So yesterday I went up to the shop where I have my car. I thought to myself better change the oil now since it's been a while. Step 1 drain oil, step 2 take off oil filter......... Yeah didn't get past that part so easy. I had to pull the filter housing off the car and put the filter a vice to get it off housing. Anyway to my point I see some cracks in the casting but I'm not sure if these are factory since I never really paid attention to it in the 1st place.

Looks like they're from vibration... Considering I can see them EASILY in the first pic from decently far away, they're kinda bad. I still doubt they'll cause you any issues, though, as long as they don't get any bigger...

Just eliminate the cooler housing and install a block oil filter stud.

tape up the hole... pour some water in it and see it leaks... if yes... replace/remove... better than using busted parts
