Oil change capacity discrepancies....

Hello, I am a new member and a first time Infiniti owner. I have a 2007 M45 Sport. I picked up my car from the dealer and realized they didnt add the proper amount of oil so I have been doing some reading and am getting different oil capacities for the car... anywhere from 5.75 to 7.1 quarts?? I am waiting for my owners manual, but I am confused because I am getting conflicting numbers from what are supposed to be official Infiniti sites. Input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Welcome to the forum.

You can download the owners manual from Infiniti's website...but 5.75 qts sounds more likely than 7.1qts. My M56x (slighter bigger motor) uses 6.5qts.

5.75 qts with a filter change, 5.25 qts without.
I have to refer to the FSM, but the 7 qts might be in reference to a dry engine after overhaul/rebuilding.

The discrepancy is because when you drain the oil you get what is in the pan plus what has drained down, when you pull the filter you get an additional amount that was in the filter. But No one would leave the plug out over night or longer to really get all the oil out of the entire engine, plus I am sure some won't ever come out from simple gravity drain. I am not sure if this car is equipped with an oil cooler but anything in the lines or cooler will not be coming out just by draining the pan.
