Hey all,Just purchased an 09 coupe and I like doing my own oil changes and was wondering which is the better of the two -synthetic or conventional. I was going to use Mobile One 5/30...Oh yes, Oil filters - use Nissan or is a Frame filter just as good.Last thing, is there any tricks or short cuts to make this easy, or is it just a standard oil change.

Thanks...

RG

Congrats! What did you get, options?

Before, I used Mobil 1 5W-30 but I was burning oil on my last coupe, '02 Acura RSX Premium. I learned about Castrol German Synthec 0W-30 and never looked back.

As for Oil Filter, I use Bosch #3323 but use OEM if it's not available.

Tips?

I learned here, TURN YOUR WHEEL all the way to the RIGHT get better access to the Oil Filter.

Use dino oil for the first couple of oil changes. You can use synthetic afterwards if you desire.

Nissan OEM filter is good, FRAM is garbage - don't use fram. Consider one such as the Mobil 1, K&N, Bosch, or Purolator.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!

You know when you go to Wal-Mart to get an oil change that you are putting the safety of your car in the hands of kids who couldn't get a mechanic job anywhere else.....

Taking your car to Wal-Mart for an oil change is like using the free car wash at the Gas Station. And not the car wash at the brand name (Shell, Arco, BP) station, but the car wash at the privately owned station.

That's cool. I suppose there has to be some Wal-Mart workers who know what they are doing!

My sister got her oil changed at Wal-Mart once. Somehow, a huge piece of plastic made it in to the oil pan causing all kinds of mayhem. They of course denied it at first but ended up paying for all the work needed.

I like using a k&n filter because it has the 1" nut a the end so you can use a socket wrench to remove it
