which type is better to use on the ca18det........a sealed one, or one with a breather......or does it even matter?

There is no special one to use for any motor really.

Sealed type is better in my opinion. You have to remember that if you can apply vacuum on the crankcase, you can make more power, how much exactly isnt always the same. With a breather open to the atmosphere, you will have no vacuum in the crankcase.

I would reccomend either building yourself, or having someone build, or PURCHASING, a GOOD breather tank that is sealed and has baffles as to pull in cranckcase vapors and collect excess oil WITHOUT sucking any of that oil back into the vacuum source. I would reccomend getting the source from the intake (not any charge pipes, becuase they wont do anything once you are in boost).

There are also systems that you install into your downpipe that "pull" vapors from the crankcase using bernoullis principle. Moroso makes one and they are on summit racing, crankcase evacuation system.
