Murrays (don't trust them) AND my service manual agree roughly - FSM says 3 5/8 quarts of oil with new filter.

in the All Data system it says around 4.5 quarts which seems more realistic but i trust the FSM over all data ANY DAY.

3.625 quarts seems low for a 3.0L Twin Turbo

i just want to get a "yeah that's the right number" from some of you long time Z32 owners.

thanks!!!

i wouldn't drain any out just yet. the 1990 does spec 4 5/8. don't know why it changed in later years though. i would wait for more replies from maybe NSR Z32 or dustin z as they are human encyclopedias on these cars

I have only ever heard of Z's taking 3 5/8 qts. of oil. Check the oil level with the dipstick to see if you have too much in there.

i think the 4 might have been a typo in All Data. i will check the oil dipstick.

also.....i am not even sure what year the engine is. the CAR is a 90 NA but it has a VG30DETT in it from who knows what year. it's likely that it was an earlier year because there were so many more produced in the earlier years of production. but i don't know what on the engine the year is.

also, my service manual that says 3 5/8 quarts is supposed to be for a 1991.

thanks guys

3 5/8 is what it should be

Per Nissan parts department, per fsm, per owners manual, per what we do in the shop, and per me

I don't care about being a necromancer but 3 5/8's is a TYPO!!!!!
it's 4.8 liters to 5.1 liters!!!!! this is why so many people get spun bearings in our cars. Do you really think that our oil capacity is less than most 4 bangers out there!? PLEASE have some common sense and fill it to the proper level.

if you don't believe me take off the oil pan and fill it yourself and you'll see.

Last time I changed oil on my 1993 NA, I stupidly put in 4 quarts before checking the owner's manual, where it says 3 5/8. With four and a new filter in it, dipstick read overfull.
