Oil around my spark plug

aww crap what happened? i just got my car and in cylinder #2 there is burnt oil and maybe some other fluid all around my spark plug....what is this? what do i do?

you could have dripped some oil in there when you were doing an oil change. other possibilities are more severe such as blown piston rings or head gasket. Do a compression test, if the numbers don't match for #2 like they do for others, you've got one of those happening.

if the oil is on the plugs bolt head area its typically a leaking valve cover oring gasket.

I have to agree, valve cover gasket, I used to have a Ford Probe and the damn thing needed replacement twice. What a P.O.S

O-Ring Gasket... you should replace that typically every time you pop the valve cover off.

However, typically they just get re-adjusted when you wiggle the cover on and don't quite seal 100%... just play around with it and you can get it to work.

i mopped up all the oil and its dry now. nothing has come back. the car runs fine so its not head gasket. compression seems fine.....the car has plenty of power. but i will still do compression check at my friends house....i have absolutely NO tools..thanks for the input guys. :D

Make sure to hold the throttle open, disable the ignition, and pull the fuel injector harness off.
