.....I use the results the same way. To keep a gauge on how my engine is wearing. I drive 40k+ and send in the sample 2 times a year.I also use Blackstone on my daughter' 06 Kia Sportage.3Q Jay wrote:how about posting your results?
Make sure you specify to blackstone that yours is a VK45DE (not just a 'nissan 4.5L V8'. so that it doesn't skew the family data they have on file for the VH45. qship96 and i both do this from time to time. i don't do it to try and squeeze every last ppm of anti-wear additive out of my oil, but more to periodically assess engine state of health.
I believe this is where the old saying he has applies.PachoC wrote:Q45 Tech: Quick question on your recommended oil change frequency - Does this apply even if you use Synthetic oil and you drive less than 7k miles per year? Can the frequency be reduced? Tks.
I certainly agree w/ all your thoughts. But it is nice to read "with wear looking as good as it does" to re-assure me that I still have a decent amount of future.Q45tech wrote:One of the reasons I've changed oil and filter every 90 days is to get it on a lift where I can spend 30 minutes examining everything for leaks and bushings, belts for wear. Planning ahead lets you get the best prices on components.
Oil analysis is historical telling you what as already happened, too late to correct.

I wonder if Infiniti would know the exact build day of a Q. I know the month and year from the door jamb label - but knowing the exact day would be fun. Maybe a special wax or oil change for her 20th birthday.Q45tech wrote:Only 4 more months until the Q is 20 years old.
