I have the extended service plan for my 2004 Max which includes free oil changes and tire rotations.I was wondering if anyone changes their own oil and use oil additives like Duralube,Slick 50 etc with positive results. If I don't take advantage of the dealership oil changes would that void the warranty?

I bet it will void the warranty

I would be nice if they would use Mobil One Synthetic for yourmotor oil. I would ask to see if they would.

Dealer can not void your warranty so long as you can prove you change your oil on a regular basis. Now adding additives is another story. They shouldn't and they probably wouldnt know but again if they found out and something happens and they see that, then they could say that this is not what nissan recommends for the car.

You need to read the details of your contract. Having worked in warranty claims companies, that is the biggest problem with upset people, they didn't read the contract. Personally, on the motors I have built, I use a B&G product called MOA (motor oil additive), stuff looks like honey and sticks well to the new parts as you break everything in.

The only oil additive I use is BG products, MOA. I've worked in Nissan dealerships for 11 years now, and that is what 95% of the tech's use and recommend. As far as the warranty deal, I would read through it a few times to fully understand it.

Is the BG product something I can add to the oil after the dealership changes the oil?Or do you have to drain a quart to of oil to add to fresh oil change?
