What about additives? I just found out that Lucas Additive is HORRID and I have a quart of that in my rebuilt KA in order to keep the oil pressure high.

Here is a link to how bad it can be:http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/...s.htm

Is it REALLY that bad? I mean he didn't use the exact same oil on the two compartments, so the test would really be fair with same oil, one with additive one w/out. I'm running a quart of that addditive and 3 quarts of 20W50 Penzzoil to keep my oil pressure at decent (somewhat lower than stock) levels on my newly rebuilt KA-ET engine, and now I'm worried.

I've also seen a new Lucas additive which is synthetic. Could that perhaps be a good one? I guess I'm asking not because I think I would use it to complement my regular oil, but more as something to makee it thicker, and up my somewhat low oil pressure. I have exhausted all other options and now am just trying to make the best out of what I have.

Only thign i know is the lucas is good for powerunits in arkansas. My cosuins geo tracker was burning oil like crazy and sounded horrible. Put a qt in it.It stopped burning oil and quited down instantly. However I'm sure you'll need to allow the car to warm up a little before driving.

That goes without saying, I let it get up to 180 before I even get out of my driveway. That takes a bit since I have a gutted thermo

sil,

i've gotta research on RISLONE--engine Restore-- engine treatments... those metal cans that come in differnt sizes depending on how many cyl u got...

that's my next search...my skillz are slow, but thorough...

did u see that other thread about gear oils?i still won't believe it until it's printed on their products/website...

eventhough w/ his attempts to verify what that guy said over the phone & reading up on the links he posted, i wouldn't put GL5 in my manual transmission gearbox @ all!

It seems the Lucas is getting a lot of positive responses from big rigs and other heavy macinery users, but the actual tests on the gears and someone's transmission (he drained it after adding lucas after 15 mins of idle and it was all foam) seem to make it look like the additive from hell.

I'm not putting anything into my transmission, right now I'm just trying to find something that will make my engine oil thicker so the pressure is at acceptable levels, withotu sacrificing oil quality (lubrication foaming etc).

I have tried both RESTORE and Lucus Oil Stabilizer. The Lucas I use 1/3 to 1/2 a bottle and the Restore I used the full 4 cylinder can. Neither products caused any problems. However, I have a compression tester and I found that neither addative increased my compression at all.
