I see the results, BUT, the point is that Lucas causes the oil to climb the gears. That is what it advertises.
The synthetic oil "frothed" without the Lucas additive.
If you start with poor oil, or oil that tends to "froth", adding Lucas, will not stop it from "frothing".
I would like to see this test, with non-synthetic oils, that don't "froth" already. Then add Lucas, to see if it starts to "froth".
I am not convinced, that adding Lucas made any difference, except to keep oil on the gears - which was much better than the synthetic oil by itself.
This does not convince me that there is anything wrong with Lucas oil treatment.
I have used Lucas, for years. It has helped keep many of 300,000 mile plus cars going. I don't put in as much as suggested, but I do add a 1/2 cup, or so, with every oil change. I don't use it in the Q, but I do use it in my old GMC truck. I have never seen any bubbles in the oil, even on a race engine, that is still a few hundred degrees, right after a race. I think the gear test he uses is a little flakey, for motor oil. Maybe right on, for gear oil, though.
