Normal operating range is approximately 10-14 ohms.

Injector #1: 246!Injector #2: 98.7Injector #3: 7.6Injector #4: 7.9Injector #5: 7.7Injector #6: 73.4Injector #7: 9.6Injector #8: 8.3

So it seems the next big thing is removal of the plenum and replacement of at -least- three injectors.

First time I checked them, the radio was on full blast (hey, 80s on 8 was playing Men At Work!). I did it again with the key removed and the radio off, and this looks more accurate:

#1: 42.5#2: 31.3#3: 12.4#4: 12.5#5: 12.2#6: 26.8#7: 13.3#8: 12.7

Suspect bad meter or methods! Injectors 3-5, 7-8 are in a nice group, but 7.6-9.6 ohms is not common. Make sure the batteries in the meter are good, and measure a known good resistor for comparison.

Uh, yeah. More like that. You should always measure resistance with the key off. Good way to blow the DVOM.

I'm running short on time. Can someone post a link on how to ohm the injectors? I've been meaning to look this up for a while now.

I know #1 can be replaced without pulling the plenum... easy job. However, being that you have two injectors slightly higher than regular resistance, I think you should wiggle the connectors to the injectors and see if that clears things up. I had a similar issue and a couple times just wiggling the plugs on the ends of the injectors fixed it. Then I actually had an injector go out and had to pull the plenum. If you do go ahead and replace the injectors, get the wiring harness for them also.

Gnikave:http://www.q45.org/ohminjectors.htmlI set the meter to the lowest setting under Resistance. Using a $17 Wal-Mart multimeter.

Scott:I'll give that a try!

That could be true as well... If memory serves the injector connectors are kinda like the connector on the maf, correct?

Yeah, pesky little buggers. Cleaning [the connectors] just now made a slight difference. Time to go prowling the junkyard for used ones to replace #1 and 2 up front. The three bad ones (maybe all) will get replaced when the plenum comes off in the spring.

so, is the car running bad as a result of these bad injectors?

Theres what feels like a miss under acceleration, and slightly lumpy idle -- Lumpy as in the trademark gentle rocking of the car, as opposed to the type of rough idle that normally indicates a dirty TB, IAC, or plenum.

Until I replace the two injectors located in front (found a junkyard 70 miles away that had them for $35 each) I went ahead and removed the connectors for three injectors and applied dielectric grease. Idle sucks but there was a definite improvement in acceleration.

OH THANK GOODNESS I'M DONE.

Pics:

I attempted to super glue a socket to the screw, so I could get a grip on it and loosen it, but the glue didnt hold. And I forgot to buy an impact screwdriver. Oh well.

The injector on the right wasnt too bad. I used the closed end of a wrench to wrap around the screw, hammered on it with the back of a screwdriver, then turned it loose.

An injector Evan sent.

Another injector. Greased it up, put new o-rings on, and put it straight in without drama.

The last injector was nearly impossible. The screw on the left was difficult to get at, so I shoved a flathead under the right and pried up, breaking off a piece. Then I was able to turn the other side loose and remove the injector.

Removed!

I went for a drive, and it was like a new car. I came to a stop at the end of an onramp and thought it died, so I went to crank it and of course it was still running. Its never been this smooth since I've owned it. Additionally, I was able to readjust the AAC (aka IAC) to two turns out so the idle is normal now. There's one more injector in the back that needs to be replaced -- that can wait.

HUGE THANKS to Evan for sending me the injectors! Saved me a tremendous amount of money and trouble. I owe you!

All I can say is WOW, Jesda turning wrenches and making these kind of improvements means we all can, and probably should.

Just wish I had more time and space to change my other two bad injectors. I changed the first one and that sucker was hard to get out in the first place. I tore up the connector pulling it out. It was so brittle. I will try your trick for taking off the screws since taking it off with a phillips is damn near impossible from the angles I am working with.

I just hate sitting in park or at a light and seeing my car shake. It pisses me off. And that vibration feel when taking off pisses me off even more.

I'm buying an impact screwdriver next time around. Its $20 at Home Depot.

Pito:Is your Q idling smoothly now or do you still have more injectors to do?

I have two more injectors to do. The idle itself is smooth I just have the bounce. I have the rocking side to side motion. My Q could play off as it has hyros on it. (Just playing its not that bad.)

Good work Jesda! I've only had one injector bad at a time, and that drove me nuts. I can't imagine more than one. It has to be a tremendous improvment!

Most dramatic improvement is going from 20-60. Now I have to deal with bizarre hiccups/bucks and a low battery warning (might all be MAF connector related). Then there's that pesky driveshaft.

Almost there!

Then there's the transmission flush...And the oil pan drop.Upper links.Miscellaneous bushings.

Okay, not quite almost there but good enough for me!

Hmmm...interesting thread. Especially now...

First off, Jesda I'm glad the injectors worked! I was a little iffy about them since I had never put them to use, but I'm glad it worked out.

Interesting I created a thread in Infiniti Online Mechanic http://www.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=96841 and then Pito says this:

Note the bold part. I'm having this exact problem. Though it happened pretty suddenly for me after driving the piss out of the Q. I think I'll get off my lazy a$$ and ohm my injectors...

Yeah just one day I turned on the car and noticed the shake. It will be in the form of a rocking left to right or vice versa. It is extremely annoying.

Just had my injectors done too. Amazing, hasn't been this smooth or fast since i've had it. Put back on my 15 inch BBS clones and Pirelli M&S tires and burned rubber. I forgot how fast she was, andd much better fuel mileage. Still a little vibration at idle, but feels like either motor mounts or exhaust hangar.

btw, Wes, sorry I missed you in Indiana, had a rough trip. Did you get any damage from the ice storm?

No worries steve.. Maybe there will be a next time, but I doubt it, i see no reason youd want to come back.. Basically we have corn, and a steak and shake

Can you actually get all the injectors without remove the PLenum?? Or was that the 3 bad ones you replaced?? I don't know if I trust used injectors though...

The two up front, to my fortune, were the worst of three bad ones. The next one is in the far, far back, and I'll let it be until I do everything under the plenum this spring/summer.
