Just wanted to see who in NE Ohio passed echeck and with what setup. I have had trouble passing ever since I upgraded my exhaust and am going to go through the painful process again this August. Anyone out there who has a similar setup as mine?

currently until I change my mind/taste: KA, short ram intake, Megan Racing header, catco cat, hks exhaust.

I need to avoid another headache. Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

Get car registered in a non-echeck county. All you have to do is get a friend who lives in a non-echeck county and go to the BMV in their county and use their address on the registeration.

I have never heard of doing that before. Definitely a way to beat the system, haha. I guess I could do that if I fail every attempt. I have until August anyways, so I have some time to get things running right.

If you get any tickets or notices about your car they will be sent to the other address though.

How is you car not passing the e-check? It is a 98 you don't have to do the tail pipe test.........I thought they just plug it up?

The computer had always thrown a code. Before, I didn't know too much about what to do in order to fix everything. I am in better shape now, but I am still concerned that I something still might go wrong. So basically I am just being more cautious this time around...until something newer that is like the 240 gets made.

Thanks. By the way, what area of Cleveland are you from? I live on the east side. I see a few s13's and 14's around me, but nothing that looks like its modded.

I live on the West side right now. You should go to the autocross event this saturday at Northfield park (check in the autocross forum). If you haven't done an autocross before you will love it and become addicted. I just started and I can't wait to get back out there .

I forgot about autocross entirely, haha. My friends did it but every time I wanted to go out and try it, I either had work, or my car was acting funny and I needed to get things fixed. I plan on going to one once I upgrade my suspension and all that jazz.

Also, nuinqua, thanks. I actually went to ohionissans.com about a week or two ago and signed up.

Ice, there is another option..

I have collector plates on my Z. I live in Portage County which is an E-Check county. But if your car is classified as a Collector car, then you avoid having to have E-checks..

Since I have no Cat Converters anymore, I can't pass.

Your next question is, How do I get my car registered as a collector.

First off, gather your receipts for work you have done on the car. If they total more than $5000. then you qualify.

What you will need to do is fill out a form that you can get on line, add pictures of your car and copies of all your receipts added up along with the fee and send it to the state. In about 10 days, you will receive your collector plates.

I know it sounds funny, but it's totally real. I got the plates to prove it.

Call the State BMV in Columbus to confirm..

The problem I have now is, if I want to sell my car, I either have to sell it to someone in a None Echeck county, of they have to go through the things I did to get it registered as a Collector,

OR, I gotta put the cats back on and Unblock the EGR.

Thanks Rickorelli. I have a friend who did that with his Mustang. He has the Anniversary edition 99 GT and he did that after putting over $5, 000.00 into it. I know that right now if I continue to do work on my car, it might total to at least over $4,000.00...
