Oh Where, Oh Where Can They Be!

I managed to negotiate a few minutes with the Q before starting the Mother's Day Honey-Do List (clean the windows).

I pulled out a third fuel injector today (#2) and found it had no pintle cap. This is only the 3rd FI I've pulled and none of them have had the cap. The first two (#1 and #8) were the source of major headaches when the lower o-ring slips and leaks and I checked the third FI today only as a precaution. I guess I've been lucky that these two failed and not the others deeper under the plenum. I just got 8 pintle caps from DeutschWerks a couple of weeks ago so I was able to put the FI back in properly.

Has anyone else had the "missing pintle cap syndrome" when changing out FI's? Looks like I need to get to the under plenum job sooner than expected to check the rest of the FI's before I travel too far from home.

3 for 3.... were all of those purple tops? yes, your engine loves to eat pintle caps...my loaner was even part consumed (one tab went missing).

just jibing you--hey everyone, Mike is such a stand up guy he even threw in 2 spare caps in perfect condition for me when returning my injector......

seriously--i'm curious to know this too, as I've not heard of it before.

when you go under the plenum, dont forget to do ks and ALL the hoses (you gfotta ask for the water hoses and secondary air hoses when you call).

Thanks for the kudos. Two of the three injectors that I've removed were tan tops. The other was the newer purple top. I'll have to get a light out and look at the other five.
