Watch, and fear for the future.

"Stress-free lifestyle"?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?
ARE PEOPLE INSANE?! WHAT ON EARTH IS STRESS-FREE about letting your car go off ON ITS OWN through a densely-packed, pedestrian-filled, visibility-limited parking structure?!

EVEN IF a car could genuinely navigate an ACTUALLY POPULATED shopping structure (you know, with OTHER CARS actually driving around), that doesn't account for the DRIVERS OF THOSE OTHER CARS.
What happens when Jane Wannabe Hotmom in her chromed-out Pilot doesn't see the self-parking Audi pulling out of its spot because she's too busy talking on her Galaxy S 3.
What happens when someone in the car next to the spot the Audi chose to park in opens their door?
And how the @#$% is it supposed to handle parking passes distributed upon entry, gate barriers, and human-directed traffic?

This is terrifying. This isn't even Google's highly sophisticated self-driving monstrosity. It's just a freaking A7 with self-park that's doing more than back into a parking spot.

I am not okay with this kind of tech being used in cars designed for public roads.

I was thinking the same thing. Unless the cell network is suddenly 100% secure, wouldn't all one need is a device that can pickup the code used to activate/deactivate the car? What happens if your cellphone is lost or stolen? free car too?

I simply find it eerie that a car is driving itself so slowly through a parking lot where fender benders occur VERY frequently.

What happens if the car looses connection with the gps sat? ( i'll just assume that its parking itself through gps)
A car driving itself with no idea where it's headed?

I guess there's a bright side, if your car hits another car whilst parking itself, is it now the dealer's fault, therefore they have to cover repairs?

I doubt it's anywhere near that sophisticated. Most likely just works like all other self-parking cars: laser ranging and possibly cameras for "vision" and nothing more.

It might work if the NJ destination models have a retractible hand with an extended middle finger that deploys along with a prolonged honk and flashing highbeams whenever a pedestrian or other car causes it slow down or stop.

What if the car has to make a panic stop while a passenger is sipping hot coffee and it spills on their crotch? There's no way to warn a passenger to a panic stop if they are not paying attention to the road.

Everyone freaks out about this, yet no one seems to realize that many people are less able to drive their cars than a computer can.

No matter how bad a driver a person is, they are still capable of intuition and anticipation, which puts them far above computers in terms of capability. Even the most inept human is far better equipped to drive a car. They might do it poorly, but they do so with more information at their disposal. People are bad drivers due to incompetence. Computers are INCAPABLE drivers because they lack the most basic faculties necessary to perform the task.

I see one, I'm gonna let it drill my daily driver intentionally.

With no witness, and no accuser in court, I'll win the case handily. Thanks for the new car, Audi.

That thing was incredibly slow. You get out of the car, people behind you start beeping and yelling things. You whip out your phone, and press a button (apparently twice? They didn't edit that one out of the video), the car takes it's sweet time, traffic is building up, tempers are building up. The car pulls out slowly. Joe 6 pack behind the car finally looses his s*** and drives around the car. Either they collide in a MOD scenario, or the self-parking car has some sort of sensors on it that doesn't allow it to hit other things, and it stops... causing a massive traffic obstruction.

Automate the garage rather than the car.

Jesda, you took the words out of my mouth. Only I was thinking more like the parking garage in I, Robot.
