So I bought this 91 240sx abotu a month ago. The car ran strong didnt smoke at all, I replaced a freeze plug, some temp. sensors (just to be on the safe side), had to block the EGR (had to take off the exhaust manifold somehow and the Egr tube wouldn't come off, and no the engine light is not on). I also installed the BRM exhaust (which sounds great might I add ). So anyway, the previous owner told me it overheated once but that it didnt seem to have a blown head gasket. Three days ago I noticed a lack of power, slightly, and when I rev my engine to about 2k rpm smoke comes out of the back. I'm almost positive its not my rings because i did not have this problem earlier. The problem I did have though was that it would overheat and air would be in the upper radiator pipe. It overheated every couple of days. So I want to get everyone's personal opinion on this matter. I believe its a blown head gasket that just got started. - Thanks, David

Here's a pic of my other car I built over the summer, its a 1966 Chevrolet 4 door Corvair

could very well be, do a compression test and if any two adjacent cylenders are significantly differant you've probably got a blown head gasket.

My original SOHC had the same teperment. It ended up being a blown headgasket, but I never knew that was going to happen, so the last time it overheated, it was the last time the motor ran.

Wow! I guess I am not the only fan of the car that Ralph Nader campaigned so hard against. That beautiful 60's Chevy styling in a car that isn't a boat on wheels.
