My car doesnt leak under normal conditions. Well my car withstood a hurricane this week sooooooooooooooooo yeah. Anyway, like i go to my car after everything clears up and there is condensation all on the inside. I'm like ****!!! because i know what happens. most of my friends 240's smell like ponds, so I'm like O no! The only non pond smelling 240 I know is going to smell like a pond!

Anyway I looked in and its soaking wet on the inside. I take off the panelling and fell on the inside. there is like foam. its soaking wet. hmmm. im close to just tubbing my car out and just keeping the front seats. but i dont want to do that because that just does not pull *****.

how in the world am i supposed to make my car smell normal again? i think im just going to let it air out.

Ummm, thats a good start!

I cant believe you are complaing though. Thank God you dont live on the Gulf Coast and you still have a car, house, etc.

Its kinda hard to air out you house when its still under 10ft on water...

Remove the foam.

Use dry ice and freeze the foam off, it should come right up. Then you are going to have to use the foam cleaner at the car wash to clean the seats. When the foam is totally off, you may have to use a orange cleaner to get the crap out of the crevices by using a sponge. This is all assuming you have removed the rear seat and that you have a S13, of course (the only ones I have known to smell like a pond, lol).

Also, check your rear hatch if you have one. The seals on the rear lights can let in alot of water if compromised. ALso, the #1 sourse of water is the sunroof, which there is no known cure. You have to seal it off to get rid of that one cause of the way the stock one seals for some reason.

The jackass mechanic that had my girlfriend's car for like 3 months "fixing" it left her trunk open and a mouse made a nest inside. Under the carpet in the trunk there was nothing but mouse turds. We took all the carpet and everything out, scrubbed it with dish soap, soaked it up with sponges, then wiped it down with wet cloths and let it air out for a night. We laid the carpet out and steam cleaned it, and the plastic panels we just scrubbed with Dawn. That got rid of the mouse urine/crap smell, so it may help get rid of the pond smell. Long process though, took the better part of an afternoon.

When I got my Camaro it stunk like crazy, so I put like 3 air freshners in it, and Febrezed the hell out of it every once in a while and eventually it started smelling like a garden.

I swear I lucked out with my car. Its in perfect mechanical condition, decent interior and best of all, no smells. Good luck with it.

Its for sound deadening purposes.

It also has the unfortunate side-affect of soaking up swamp water! Dump it!

You can get those small tubs of chemical that suck moisture out of the air and dump like a dozen of them in your car. I kept a few of them in my garage around my parts during my rebuild to keep rust at a minimum. Might help in this case.

Steam clean it. you probably need to pull the interior out to clean it. Use a bunch of air fresheners and use that fabreeze spray stuff.

drift factorys website has the project car steps, they describe in detail and with pics how to strip everything from the interior

if i had an excuse to strip it, coat/paint the inside with something and cage it, id do it in a heartbeat

sadly a car that just turned 78k and has been garaged all its life, no such luck

Whenever I would take my Jeep Cherokee creek riding I would just shut it up in the driveway with a bowl of baking soda in the floorboard. By the time I woke up in the morning to go to work it smelled fresh as a baking soda daisy.

There was one rare occasion where that did not get rid of the smell, I found a spray called "odor gun" which did the trick.
