Today I went to install some new springs and some other suspension goodies (that you will know about shortly!) and things of that nature.

Instead of renting a spring compressor (my better judgement) and installing the springs, I took it to one of my local shops... They have done all my suspension work in the past on my old Q, did fabulous work...

Anywho..... so I took the shocks over there, and when I get there they say "we have a little problem"... When they compressed the spring and went to take out the center nut, well everything came with it... Take a look at the picture...

Do you think tokico will cover that under their warranty? either way, im obviously not going to have to pay for it.....

They also installed the front springs 90* the wrong way I would assume its something where you can choose 2 different orientations to put the strut mount.....

Anyway, fortunately my parents are out of town so I can use their car, but it looks like my Q is on blocks for the weekend......

Patience....patience. There, that's all I can spare.

Good luck with these Bozos.

Airtools. Gotta love 'em. Is that rust discoloration where the nut was sitting?

I went out and looked and its not rust on the top part... just some discoloration I guess, not sure what it is.....

Joe is gonna call me back tomorrow to see if its covered under warranty... Either way it doesnt really matter to me... I really dont want to blame it on the shop as theyve done quality work on our cars for a LONG time (think 50+ years)...

Im not really that pissed at all, but if I hadnt had a spare set of rear shocks and my car was going to be out of comission for more than a couple of days, when it should have taken about 2 hours to do that job, then it would have been ugly... However, I get a new shock, and I get to use someone else's car/gas... life is good!!!

My guess is, like robert said, they used air tools and didnt put something on the strut rod to hold it in place..... I guess thats why they use lock nuts on them!!!

I have been having problems getting that damn tension rod out too.... They put the nut on closer to the inside so i cant get a socket on it!

My springs are being installed as well. Since I've had other trouble maybe it will go well. It only takes one guy at that shop to mess things up Wes! Make sure when it is done that some pics are taken!! I take some after mine are installed.......if I ever get my car back.

We have to compare the drive with these springs under different road conditions.

Wes are you putting the shock/strus on the car yourself or are you having it done?

Tomorrow morning I'll take them back to the place to ahve the springs mounted on the shock correctly, and then while im there we will barter for the rear setup...

Either way the car should be at least driveable. Thank god i had some extra rear shocks!
