Well I got my FSM downloaded and ran the diagnostic 2 this morning, and I got the dreaded (for me anyway) code 34...I had a feeling it wasn't going to be as easy as a temp sensor on top of the motor.

Anyway, it looks like I'm gonna have to do it myself...any gotcha's?

Best source for parts? I assuming I'm gonna need gaskets for the upper intake collector, does the bottom intake need to come off too?

Of course I plan on doin both K s's.

Dangit......at least I didn't get 4 different codes.

Those of you that have done this job, tell me your stories......:-)

I had Byron at T3 replace mine, and he replaced the harness too. It looked real bad. Car runs awesome, now.

The symptom that got me to looking was sorry performance from a dead stop.

While under the hood I could hear a slight knocking, and tapping on the head didn't change anything.

Once I got and read the FSM Self Diagnostic, I recieved the #34 Knock Sensor code. Also, when the Knock Sensers go down, the computer "retards" ignition...If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

This is the second time I have found out, ya cain't fix these dang cars without the dang book!!! The first time was my 89 Maxima...now with 208K miles...still goin strong.

I have to work on my own cars, bieng in Alabamastan.....:-)

Unless you drive to T-3. Still good to know what is going on.

You can always bypass them with a 1MOhm resistor in the short term.Obviously only if you're sure about fuel quality etc.

Do you find that to work? My KS ohm fine, but it still threw a code in the ECU. I think the ECU monitors feedback from the KS to make sure they're responsive.

It works ok on a 300zx, no reason it shouldn't on the Q? Not so sure the ECU's that clever to be honest. Could just be the usual nissan dodgy wiring / connector corrosion?Guess the best think is to try it then see if it clears the code.

I measured them through the harness (clean). Both were within 5k. Code came back repeatedly after clearing/starting the engine. On disassembly I found the sensors to be cracked right where the 2 molded halves are joined.
