Maybe a dumb question but I can't find a straight answer for it:

I have an open diff on my s13. Can I buy another open diff, weld it, and put it in for the summer, then swap the open diff back in for the rainy season? Then continue to swap back and forth each season? Or does welding my diff forfeight my ability to swap back and forth?

Welding the diff has to do with welding the internals of the pumpkin. You can swap pumpkins out all day long man.

This

However, it's annoying to swap diffs just because of the "rainy season" Welded diffs aren't bad in the rain.

You "can".
But driving in the rain with a welded isn't a big deal. Unless your totally retarded, there shouldn't be a problem.

I'm pretty new to the car scene and there are some stupid things I just don't know about. I usually learn by just tearing into s*** but usually that means I learn the hard way. I am just trying to get this figured out so I dont do something stupid.

once you run your welded diff, youre not going to even consider having an open diff again. the rain is the best part. welded diff > peg leg.
