Yep, i just got booted from FA for giving a few people who need to learn some manners what for. I was booted for cursing/flaming. LOL

what a joke---If i was flaming and was banned for it, then most of the members should be banned for it as well. Flaming is a HUGE part of what most do to newbies. Although I dont do it, nor condone it. it is still part of what goes on. AT least I wasnt flaming for a dumb reason like someone asking what a turbine housing is.

Anyway--there are some that may be a member of both forums. One of which is a MOD here on the nico forums. I dont wish to continue the conversation over here on 240sx.org but i did want to voice my laughs about it.

Oh boi---the days where you cant even give somebody hell in a forum for being rude and arrogant are here. Whats next?--getting banned for improper grammer? oh boy--wed all be in trouble then.I would just have to say this---if you want to say something here that you wouldnt normally say to someones face out of fear of reprisal or an ugly look, or simply the fear of getting knocked cold--think twice about posting it. Most people say that whatever they say on here, they would say to someones face. Thats not true--i dont care who says it. Most of us are civilzed and loathe confrontation, therefore would never insult someone to thier face. So why do it on here? Because you dont have to deal with any more of a consequence than a tongue lashing? Thats cowardly. Just use your manners, dont insult people who dont deserve it, and dont be arrogant about what you think you know. Everything will be just peachy. Maybe then we all wont be banned for bad grammer--lol.

oh--and just so people think im not being up front about who i am(this seemed to be a problem on FA)--My name is Josh--i drive a black 240sx--ka-t. Ive been screwing with 240s for a looong time. No i dont know everything, especially about 240's and I like long walks on the beach with that special someone--namely my wife. lol--j/k. Thanks and cheers to all. Im up for conversations anytime. If you read the posts I made over there--im not too bad. Its seems that way over there, but thats because I had to rant about the bullpoop that was getting a little too high over there.

BTW---if the same fellow reads this who had a lil something to say about a local club here in cola--i know what you mean. But there are cool members of rush who would do anything to help a guy out. Im not in rush myself, but if i wonder if you had anything to bring back to columbia to run any of them with. Dont know how long its been since youve been here--but come back for a visit--they have quite a few rides that would blow the doors of almost anything around. The 800+ rwhp supra is nice--oh wait they have 3. The lexus sc300 is good too--around 900 rwhp. The honda civic and the integra gs-r are fast as heck--about 500 on each of em. And the only 240 in the club is sr powered and is on its way to being sick as hell. Thanks again!

Sorry to hear you got booted from there. There's good people here and there, and I know most nissan-enthusiast types browse or register on several forums, not just NICO.

I don't think grammar will ever be seriously scrutinized, but one rule to follow.... if not strictly, then just to keep in mind... is to take it easy on the new guys. Suggest what to search for, instead of typing SEARCH!!!!1.... stuff like that. We were all new at one time or another.

Josh, glad you're here. Now you'll have even more time to help guide the younger members on NICO. If you think about it, it's kinda our duty/job to make sure the mechanical info and upkeep standards we use are passed along to the new generations..

Great sig line too!!

Phil :)

Hahaha, I've been monitoring that thread, I'm a member there too but I LOVE NICO, just every once in a while we genius's dont know everything and I have to go for an outside opinion ;) I have some major issues with how FA is run though, they are extremely intollerant of newer people and there is a higher percentages of ***holes over there than here it seems. A bit more attitude you could say. Sorry for your banning :( Maybe I should go give my opinion on the JGY thing (I have had GREAT experiences with JGY and find it extremely hard to believe they would do anything underhanded like that).

I think it's best if we "cease and desist" when it comes to bashing other forums, especially forums that are quite similar to our own. I think we offer a good product here at NICO and, rather than berate a competitor, wish to take this time to say thank you all for your continued support of NICO.

Nick :)

Yeah, by all means I agree. I dont like to bash anything on a professional level. I even sent a very firm but polite letter to the feedback address for FA. I was in total disagreement that I was banned while have the funny feeling that the others that were doing the same flaming were probably allowed to continue posting. The whole thing was just rediculous. I still stand by what I said, and have no ill will towards FA, but the members that are a part of both communities are guilty of the same crap i was pissed about to begin with over there.

I simply cant stand that know-it-all attitude and the arrogance that comes with it.

We try to keep it friendly here.

I like it when members self-police each other and chide those who come across as jackas.s.es, especially to newbies.

Keeps our workload down.

I had something to say about rush not too long ago, but nothing negative....one of my friends down there in cola (in rush)has a mazdaspeed protege & a civic hatch. he is the only one that i actually know, and that is because of affiliatons w/ Lunspeed in spartanburg-

as far as your issues w/ people's etiquette, it seems to me the problem being is that common courtesy is no longer common. People seem to see the opportunity to mouth off about stuff that is of no great importance just to prove that they know more, or that they have done something better, or even just to be a general @$$ to someone that they would probably never mouth off to in person......

then again, that's just my.02

Yes, but there should always be a mutual respect. Coming to a disagreement does not mean it has to be confrontational. I don't think a lot of people understand that concept nor do many think about how what is said can affect the way a conversation goes. While I'm not a huge fan of beating around the bush, sometimes it is appropriate to soften the blow to some extent. And this can be even more appropriate on a public forum. Noone likes being disgraced in anything public. It can tend to lead to a bad reaction...

no doubt about the respect thing. i voice my opinion and dont care what people think. thats just the way i am. while others that dont voice there opinion are scared of what might be thought about them. im not scared of someone disliking me cause i voiced my opinion. if thats the way they are then i wouldnt want to be friends with them in the first place. and thanks for filling me in.

My feelings about an opinion are this:If it is asked for, then by all means tell someone how you feel about the subject. If you are just expressing an opinion for the sake of being a jerk or to put your unwanted negative 2 cents in just to have your say--then thats being a prick. Plain and simple--its not outspoken--its not strong willed, its not anything but being a prick. There are times when someone will welcome opnions, and yes--sometimes telling people how you feel can be awkward for them as they most of the time are not really ready to hear what you have to say. But like i said--stating an opinion when asked, and just saying something negative for the sake of saying it is just plain rude. What I was getting at is that there are alot of folks that wouldnt say something negative or insulting like they do so frequently here, because they wouldnt want a confrontation. They would want to piss someone off, or hurt their feelings, or be rude. Hell, they probably wouldnt even want the awkward silence even. But online, they say whatever they want, no matter how out of line it may be, how abrasive, or how rude, or even how disrespectful or hurtful. They do this because there are really no repurcutions to deal with. They dont have to look at someone in the face after they have insulted them, they dont have to worry about someone knocking their teeth in--the most they have to worry about is a tongue-lashing from a guy like me who just doesnt deal with disrespectful people very well. But they dont care--theyre happy they got to put their negative 2 cents in.I want to get it off my chest who I think has a real issue with opening their mouth without being considerate to others concerning their insulting tone, or being rude, and arrogant. But- I have decided to let it go for now. I just like to get along. :)

If you want to be flamed go to the Hydrogen Audio web forum. They are the masters. There is good info to be gotten from the forum but the people are not very friendly. They stick strictly to their "rules" . Especially rule #8. You must have evidence to back your claims. Which is cool but they get way out of hand with it sometimes.

I learned everything I know about EAC and the LAME MP3 encoder from Hydrogen Audio. I never did actually post there, but it was a useful resource.
