Ohh !! How could it be ? my wonderful CA is yet having another problem

Okay, went upto to the track today to have some fun ( motorkhana/drifting/sprint work) and all was fine.. til..

I came on boost, about 0.8 bar, and the car started spluttering.. then i keep constantly having huge fuel clouds, and spluttering even now and then.

So i pulled the A/F Ratio meter up on the turbo timer, and it says from about 3,500 grand when i'm completely on boost, my a/f ratio drops down to 11.7 !!!! GAH ! ! ! !

As mentioned lots. running R32 GTR injectors, Walbro pump and a gen 1 SAFC. Was tuned before so it was completely fine til today..

Can this be a problem with the Fuel Pressure Regulator ****ting itself ? I'm going to change the fuel filter tomorrow, but i'm pretty sure it isn't that..

Sounds more like a boost leak to me.

Been all over my plumbing on saturday, took it all off, and started again.. i thought it woulda been that too.. but just can't find anywhere where it's leaking from.. the 'cooler pipes are on nice and tight, all the small vacuum hoses are checked and on perfect, and i haven't removed anything.

Really, the only way to check the FPR is with a pressure gauge on the high pressure fuel line from the filter to the FPR. I can't remember the page, but the procedure is covered in the FSM. I thought mine was dodgy as well, so I took the expense and bought some fittings, 3' of SS line and A/N fittings, and a FP gauge and bracket so that I would never have to guess again. All told, it was a ~$50 expense, but worth it for a lifetime of assurance....and once I get a adjustible FPR, I will have all that I need for setting it.

Just to clearify this. The fuel goes from tank to filter through the fuel rail then to FPR then back to the tank. You need to put the gauge after the filter and before the fuel rail.

is the 10 inch fuel line from the filter to the metal nipple on the intake manifold an ideal location to mount a fuel pressure gauge, and is it safe to leave one mounted permanently?

I got a brass T and 2 nipples from the parts store. Go to your local pool/spa store and get a pressure gauge. I only had $20 in my FP Gauge.

did you mount it on the line between filter and 2 nipples on intake?

It is ok to leave it permantly mounted, a liquid filled gauge will last but a non-liquid filled gauge probably wont last to long due to the vibrations it will see.

You can get the fittings at a part store or places online sell specific adapters just for fuel lines. I just got the brass t and 2 barbed fittings that fit the line and gauge threads. I believe it is 3/8ths.

Then you just cut the line between the fuel filter and where it connects on the hardline that goes the length of the fuel rail. Place the T with the gauge and clamp her in.

Mount it between the filter and the nipple to the Manifold.

At the time it was a quick thing, so I'll run this gauge till it craps out and get a good liquid filled.

I'm experiencing very similar, if not identical problem in my CA as well.Did you find out if it was really the FPR that was acting up on you?
