Hum. The drought thing is scary...a lot of people don't know how little freshwater we have now, and how badly depleted natural underground aquifers are at this point in time (e.g. the midwest where are most of our food crops are).

Absolutely.

I've been to some incredibly depressed places. Cambodia (immediately post Khmer Rogue), certain parts of India (Chennai slums), South African Townships, etc. What we call a recession, many would call paradise.
