And by trouble, I mean my baby girl NX. . .

So a few weeks ago, someone rear-ended my brother. His car became a write off. He took the money they gave him and went to buy a Nissan NX 1600. Everything was fine when he checked it out, but there was a hidden defect....RUST.

Essentially, after a week of driving it, the rear left strut tower blew off the main body frame. It was so rusted that it literally just ripped off. From further inspection, turns out it had already been ripped form the body, but was somehow kept in place. Now it has completely popped out. The rear right strut tower is also badly rusted and getting close to the left strut's fate.

I'm trying to look past the fact that his life could have been in serious danger driving that thing, especially if it gave out on a hwy or something.

Since it was a private sale, AS IS, we can't hassle the buyer for my money. We tried contacting him but he is not picking up..go figure. My brother can sue him, but for that's just not feasible, especially knowing it'll take at least 3 months, and the value of the car isn't worth that much effort.

Market price here in Canada is about $1400 depending on mileage.

My question to you is, should we try to fix it, or should we try to sell it as a parts or scrap car? I'm thinking the body is too rusted for it to be welded back on. Also, what do you think the cost of fixing it would be?

Let me know if you need any other info. cheers

Stance Coilovers!!!

Here's the right strut tower. . . As you can see, it's rusting away.

^That. Rust is all over that car, you'll never find it all. Sorry for you.

That's extremely typical for the NX cars. If you had come on here and asked around the first advice from us would have been to check that area for rust.

If the guy didn't mention it, I would attempt to get money back. But if you signed a bill of sale, it might say something like "as-is".

Damn dude! That's crazy! I say part it out. If you do manage to fix it, it would probably never be right again. Sorry for your loss bro!

Poor car. Her memory will live on in the parts she donates to a sister on her way to better things.
