It is a 1985 nissan maxima with a V6.

It has sat for the last 6 years without being turned on at all.

I am now in the process of trying to start the car and get it running again.. When it was parked,it was running great. The problem with it is that the transmission blew.

When the car was parked, it was very low on fuel.

Fast forward to today.

I have checked the oil level, it is fine, I also checked the radiator fluid and it is fine as well.

we put about 5 gallons of gas into the car (half 87 and half 91 octane). I cleaned out the engine compartment, etc. We got a brand new 850 cranking amp battery for it today.

I took the air filter out and there really wasn't any blockage or anything.

Tried cranking the car and it cranks fine, no problems.

We then tried spraying some starting fluid in the intake, it fires up and starts to idle (i know that ether isn't the best, but I just want to get this car running). If i keep spraying small shots of ether into the system, it does idle.

We then dumped some B12 Chem Tool and some Iso-Heet into the gas tank.

We then started it again using the ether. After a short bit, it started to barely idle on its own. It appears to be idling at around 200/300 rpms and the second i give it any gas, it dies.

I really need to know where to go with this as I really want to get the engine running before i attempt to replace the transmission. Any ideas??

Thanks,-Spilk

well we put in about 4 gallons, but it appears that the engine isnt getting fuel at all

so were thinking maybe there is a clogged fuel line, or the fuel pump is bad.

After X amount years of sitting, all kinds of evil will take place between gas tank and combustion chamber. Some type of "clogging" is very likely. Any in-line filter needs serious consideration for replacement on ANY automobile that sits for this long(I found this to be the culprit on my own mothball project). Gas tank gunk/fuel pump blockage/various related parts all need to be looked at with a critical eye.

BTW, your carfax has been delivered to your email :D
