This maybe an "I'm not surprised" moment but that doesn't make it any less bad.

And just because someone else does it, isn't a justification for actions.

Believe me, I'm not celebrating. But given the level of hard-line partisan posturing from most of this country's voters, I'm not surprised. Ignorance is pathetic, and I blame idiocy, not political parties.

Here's the deal: Until everyone agrees that OUR KIDS are more important than ourselves and every othr little special-interest group that sucks off the government teat, then we're gonna keep sinking.

...and it's like nuclear war - once it starts, it's really irrelevant WHO is to blame.

I'm making damn sure I don't need ANYTHING from our government - and you should too.

I read that as a promise on your part to return your social security checks, burn your medicare card and refuse your state (government) pension and other perks when you retire. I find that admirable my friend.

You don't even do sarcastic very well.

I won't NEED any of the aforementioned services. My goal (since high school) was to be financially independent and debt-free by 40.

Now if only we could get more people like that.

Having an attainable and time orientated fiscal goal could go a long way for people and some countries....

Most are too lazy to work 2-3 jobs when they're young and save.
Most are too impatient to forego movies / beer / cable / designer clothes / new cars.
Most are too ignorant to educate themselves on financial issues.
Most are too dependent on others to bail them out when they get in over their heads.
Most lack the forethought to plan for rainy days.
Most are clueless as to the devastating effects of debt and revolving credit.

Oh, I get it. Let's play semantics games. You're saying you won't NEED SS, but you smiling face will still be in line to get it, and this supposedly puts you on which high road again? Come on Greg.

From your cite....

"the majority of Republicans in Congress continue to resist any measure that would raise revenues,"

It's pretty hard to argue with that. They need to realize we're watching.
