On my S13 I'm running 17x7's all around with 215/40/17's at the moment. Due to having an offset of +40 I have to run 5mm spaces up front. Currently I'm looking into getting 4 new tires and a set of spacers for the rear. I am thinking 235/45/17 up front (and hopefully this will work with a 5mm spacer), and 265/45/17 in the rear with a 25mm spacer. Does this sound about perfect? I think I'm in the ballpark range but I'm really looking to hear from you guys (I want them to be perfectly flush). Thanks everyone!

going to need wider wheels, and also youll want to shrink those sidewalls

but first things first, you need wider wheels if you want those tire sizes, no way around it

yea, I wasn't sure about the 265, Perhaps I could go 235/45 all around with the same spacing I mentioned above?

even thats pushing it

id say 225/45/17 at the most, but 215/45/17 would be best...for now at least

Yep. You DEFINATELY should NOT run larger than a 225 on a 17x7. A larger tire than that will not fit well, and will provide absolutely no gains in handling or grip.

can you recommend a 225/45/17 tire. I'd like to stay under 100 per tire (but I don't know how realistic that is) yet have a great performing summer tire (I'm concerned about dry traction and thats about it....). Thanks

225/45 is fine, although 215 width is ideal.

so if I'm going with the 225/45/17 all around, and I have 7 inch wide rims with +40 offset.... what kind of rear spacer should I be looking to purchase, I am thinking somewhere in the range of 25mm?

30 or 35mm spacers. All around.

Yeah, on my 17 X 7's I have some Falken 225/45-17. Due to their compound and the fact that I'll experience break away before the sidewall rolls over TOO much, they are OK for the street. However, I will concede with one "naed240sx" that if you were stick with 215s in a better compound, you'll end up with better at-the-limit behavior from the tires.

It ofcourse depends on what level of performance you are looking for, and how much you are willing to spend... but if you just splurged and got yourself a nice wide set of wheels with your desired offset you could eliminate some problems and open up some possibilities

Oh, BTW. I bet it takes my best man about 2 senconds to figure out who wrote this post

I dont understand why you'd run such a big spacer. Seems like you could sell these wheels, keep the money for the expensive spacers, and buy wider wheels. You could run the big tires you wanted and achieve a better look for not too much extra money.
