Ok, maybe not true offroading, but I took my 240sx on an unpaved road tonight (splitrock for anyone in north nj) to see where my friend crashed. It was fun sliding around, but I tried to keep it slow to keep my side skirts from getting too chipped (my car isn't perfect so I wasn't too worried) Anyway, I notice a chirping noise coming from my right rear brake caliper area. I'm guessing a stone or dust go on the pad and it's chirping. Will this eventually come off, or am I damaging the rotor? Could I possibly need new brakes, maybe a 300zx break swap will solve the problem:ylsuper ?(guess i'm looking for an excuse) I have 51,000 miles on my original brake system, when should I upgrade to 300z? I tried looking with a flashlight and didn't see anything too serious, but at times the rear wheel will chirp or squeek under braking, and slightly squeek at times when I stop braking. Definetly fun, and worth the chip or two. There are no potholes or rocks on this road, just smooth dirt so I'm not a complete moron.

yeah, driving around on dirt is fun. it's been raining alot where I live, so I just go to the parking lot behind my school.

if some dirt got between the pad and rotor, it should eventually come out. how worn are your rear pads?

also, how much of a difference can you feel with the hotshot header and a 2 1/4" cat back? I'm trying to find out if the high price tag of the hotshot is worth it, or if I should wait a little longer and save up more money.

Ive been offroading a few times in my 240, i get a bit of a squeal from my brakes from time to time as a result, im gonna do the brakes soon so im not terribly worried, its prolly just some sand or something that got stuck in the pad =\

You guys are talking like, rally racing, right? Sounds fun! But seems like your suspension would be taking a beating, so upgrade that with some good components. I've heard some good things about the Hotshot header, so I'd go with it. Plus, this may sound stupid, but get some mudflaps. I've taken my friends Impreza 2.5rs off-road and after and hour, the rear quarter panel was caked in scratches and dirt... fun as hell though :)

I like driving in the big gravel lot at work. It's good for learning to control the car. At least thats what I tell myself. I would love to build a Pro Rally car. For the scca pro rallies.

right by morris town, can walk to graystone.

yep I still hear the squeeking but its only from time to time when i brake so the rock is still on the pad. it's only the rear right brake, but it's anoying. I have 1 screw holding on my catback to hs header and it sounds ghetto as hell too. My car looks nice being a 98.. but sounds like **** with all these minor things. anyway, tomorrow i'm going to get a new screw at a nissan dealer, hopefully they don't charge me $30 for one. Too bad home depot sells mainly american system screws. (whats the opposite of metric again? don't tell me it's called "standard") <--- serious question i cant remember now it's late.

anyway, doesnt look like i damaged the side skirt (I cleaned my car after anthony left) I also bought touchup paint for some scratches the pervious owner made. Its good for 3 bucks, but nothing beats sanding everything down a painting, definelty not worth it when **** happens.

oh, and hs headers wont do anything unless u get exhaust. I installed hs headers before exhaust and could barely notice any gains, just was smoother. (like intake). once I installed an exhaust i felt better gains then hs headers. don't expect much with hs headers and no exhaust. if they are said to give about 10 hp.. 10hp is about the weight of two passengers. So drive with 2 friends, then kick em out and see what its like without him. That's the gain you'll feel.
