Official submission thread for the COVER of the 2009 Vert Calendar

Now that the "official" deadline has past for the calendar (still accepting late entries and waiting for people to email better pictures), it's time to get started on cover art.

Here's my idea:

This is copied from the Nissan Sport Magazine 50th anniversary cover. The only difference, is I want it to be all verts and no one will be covered by the logos. Sizing and layout is yet to be finalized, but this is the general idea.

I want EVERYONE'S participation on this one. I don't care if your car is wrecked, half painted, mid-swap, or zip-tied together. Oh yeah, we'll take the pristine cars too... There will not be any strict rules regarding picture size and quality. They're going to be relatively small anyway, so it won't be a big deal if you only have a small picture.

Even if you submitted a picture in the other thread, please send your favorite picture for this one too.

in typical fashion, i just looked at the picture of what you were shooting for and didnt read your clarification below. Sooooo, I simply said you should do it w/ verts only... not realizing you had already said that was the idea, DOH!!!!

oh well, i'll put in an earlier one since i plan on doing another shoot tonight w/ the busted bumper to try and get April!

I don't personally like the Nissan Sport cover; cool idea, but it looks/feels so autotrader/recycler.com-ish.

You guys are the ones making the calendar, so obviously you call the shots, but I figured you wanted some varying input.

Instead of being a ***** & just complaining, I'll offer some help - at least I think I'm helping.

Like the way vert members are in general, I was thinking of something more refined & classy... and less like the cover of nissans fs.



The rest of the calendar would follow in this manner - very simple, a big nice image w/ a couple small ones, the text you collected organized neatly on the page.

Ono, the feature idea you have is pretty close to what I was going for on the monthly feature. Did you put that together yourself? If so, would you be interested in helping? That looks great! If you're willing and able, shoot me an email at [email protected] to let me know. If not, no worries.

I agree, I do like the simpler design of your cover. In fact, I'd probably prefer that as it looks really nice. However, let me explain the reasoning behind the calendar - inclusion. I want everyone to be featured on the calendar. I know the excitement of having your car featured in something other than a thread you created on the internet. It gives you a sense of pride.

Your cover is about 500-times easier to make though... So we'll see how things pan out. We might default to something like that if we get pressed for time.

What do the rest of you think?

I like Ono's idea but why not do both have the cover the way he said and have the collage on the back page because im sure there is more then 12 verts worthy of the calender

I don't think the back is customizable on Cafe Press... I'll have to look into it.

Why dont you have like a center fold between june and july and everybodys pictures there. that way it looks classy on the outside.
