they help keep the car together while its being stressed to the max. (its really a longevity thing) wont change the way your car handles in normal street driving.

^That's something that I've often thought about. On the street and for street use, maybe occasional track use (say twice a year), is stitch welding really worth it. I mean, will it help prolong the longevity of a street car used mostly on the street? Or is it a waste of time/money in long run? I think it's worth it, but am curious as to other's opinions.

Save yourself the time and effort, its really not worth it. Once you get into race compounds, 10k+ spring rates, 400+ whp, and huge brakes then your into a whole different world of destructive forces on a car.

Hey guy's whats going on lately? I haven't seen an update in a while. I check back every now and then on this page to see the progress. Do you have any detailed pictures of how you made the radiator core support? I take it you guy's don't use the hood latch anymore then eh? I love the way its looking! Do you have those wheels on the car yet?

Hi Sean, did my guys get brake ducts shipped out to you? Also, it looks from the above pic that you chopped the roof?

nope never heard anything back. I didn't know what happened.

Yeah, we chopped the roof off to make access for the rollcage, I know we are hacks, it was a quick and dirty way to get the results we wanted.

Okay i will look into it. I have a new person handling that stuff. Also, since you cut the roof before you put the cage in, it might be a good idea to scale the car real quick with the motor in. Just to make sure that all four corners of the car are seeing even tension on the chassis before welding in the cage. Just a thought.

We just got back form a parts swap meet and picked up some good stuff. Sabelt 6pt harness, big *** fire extinguisher (don't know why we would need that) and a fuel cell. So now we need to add a bunch of an lines, fittings, and a fuel pump in addition to what we needed before.

LOL, ask Chris Rado. He will tell you why. That boy was catching fire more often last year than a meth lab. And at some tracks, it could be a minute or two before they can get to you. Your on your own, always think that.

Mark Knows why we need it.... He accidently set the car on fire when we were stitch welding the frame. If you go back to page 4 I believe we have a photo of the Extinguisher used that time.

Mike. I need to email you.

we are stockpiling parts, while we are both in school for the semester. Turbo should be arriving shortly. Brake Ducts are being cut to order this week. Look for it on the track by May hopefully.

The collars are a little tight fitting, which is why they have been notched. We were using one brand of ducting, and switched over to the new stuff which is good quality ducting used in aircraft. But still a little tight. So we are adjusting the mold collars a little because we are going to stay with this ducting.I will forward the install pics to you. Almost forgot.

Mike, Thanks again man, these things look badass. I might have to hit you up for some other aero stuff, or maybe for some suggestions on how to make our own roof like yours

Money's tight but sponsors make this build possible.

Thanks again everyone!!

I got the turbo fully built now. WTF is up with the snap ring on these things? Hours of figuring out what the right wrong tool for the job was is not fun.

I almost forgot this was an S13 build. I would say make your chassis as stiff as you possibly can, and then consider a roof replacement. It is a pretty extreme mod for most, but the results are equally extreme. And the classes are getting more competitive, so you really need to have a good fundamental concept of weight reduction, suspension setup and chassis stiffening. I was at JIC Magic yesterday talking with Jon K about my new suspension setup he is doing. He was explaining to me about how he had made modifications on the rear suspension for the S15 that gave them an 8 second lap improvement. If you pay attention to details like that with all aspects of your car, you will soon have a competitive TA car. My knowledge on suspension is quite limited, but i am learning. Alot of people overlook the rest of the car thinking that the motor will overcome other neglected areas. Not it time trials.
