Alright guys i guess its time to break the news to the Public...

I purchased a 1991 240SX Hicas hatchback and I am converting it into a Time Attack car for the Redline Time Attack Series, Unlimited class. I am currently working on sponsors and the build process. As it stands right now the car is completely gutted and ready to be built up into a fully prepped race car.

The raw tubing for the roll cage is ordered and will be arriving shortly. Soon after, we will be getting little suspension bits and engine goodies for this beast, but this is a budget car meant to win races, and not to look pretty. Anyway on to the pics.

Those are just some teaser pics for now. We have a fiberglass dashboard and some other goodies going into this car, but only time will tell how light and fast it will be.

This is where I need your help.. Since this is a NICOclub car, I have decided to open this buildup to the public. I will schedule garage days to get the car built in time and anyone who can tell the difference between a wrench and a screw driver is invited to lend a helping hand. I will keep this Thread updated with garage dates and locations (this car will be bouncing back between Connecticut and New Hampshire)

This car is deffinatly going to be a fun buildup and I can't wait to share it with you guys...

EDIT Buy stuff from the part out to help fund the build up!!

Please do a rust removal and protection since it will be a fine car.

I would recommend keeping the interior as much as possible since it weights very little (except for the front seats) It's sad to see a car w/o carpet or center console.

If you plan to replace the dash I would recommend R-hand drive conversion. It will balance the car. If you don't believe me raise the car 2 inches from the back, you will see it tilt to the left side with no driver inside.

the car is getting to oh so JDM TYTE SR20, I have my reasons. and thats the end of that discussion.

It is going to be totally stripped, any weight savings is good weight savings, we will be competing against the Dent Sport Garage 240 and other completely stripped and much better prepped cars, with drivers that have a ton more experience!! The RHD is pretty much not an option for this year, if we feel it is an issue it can be changed in the next season.

Car is practically rust free with the exception of the trunk, but that will all change. thanks for the nice comments and I hope to see you guys in October or at my house to get this car on the road by October!!

Can't wait to see this car finished

And the whole RHD thing, I've read a few interviews in the past where a lot of Japanese drivers prefer the LHD cars due to it being easier to shift.

Guys, on a side note, if Sean needs anything for the car, and you can spare the parts, we'd be REAL appreciative of the contribution!!!

Maybe we could do something cool like a "Participants List" somewhere on the car, with people's screen names?

If the car is going to be in NH for the first week of August, you can count me in. Just promise me it'll be entirely too fast.

I could donate a paint job. I'll do the bodywork and everything just pay for the paint materials.

Man that would be awesome email me what you have and I will send you some $$ and my address. The race is around October 12th (Columbus Day weekend)

Thanks for the offer and I will deffinatly take you up on that, I just hope I have time to get it done before the race, if not by October, I will drop it off after the season and you can have all the time you need to paint it for next year.

James the race is in October, and I can't wait until you come back to give a hand wrenching, I met you once last year at a Party at URI, Jenna introduced us, and It would be great when you come back if you could lend a hand.

This car isn't a one time build guys. It will be going through phazes and changes in the next few years, all to make it lighter and faster, this car will be around for a long time and if you can't make it this time around, there is always next year!!

im located in middletown CT and would definatley be able to give you a hand wrenching....not sure if you have a motor or not yet, but i have an freshly rebuilt red top and the supporting mods to get it to ~400hp. Im prolly not going to end up using it, and would let it go to a fellow NICO member for cheap.

give my cell a call. 860 882 7360ask for Will

Nice, i've been waiting for something like this to happen near/in CT. Whenever you have dates for when the car is in CT let me know im deff down for it.

Im confident with my mechanical skills but not too confident with my car knowledge so this could help both ways. Let me know cuz I live in middletown.

Mmm, how about donating a paintjob to a poor vert that could really use it...?
