I am a huge FF fan, FFXII had a great fighting system. I liked the Gambits that was used in the game. I am happy to see a real FF game on my 360. Was this the reason they pushed up Mass Efffect 2s release date?

March 9, 2010 simultaneous release for PS3 and Xbox 360

I didn't know it was coming out on 360.

Anyway, I just beat FFXII yesterday. Just the main storyline, I still have to finish the hunts, defeat Yiazmat and Omega Mark XII, etc.

If I don't pick up a PS3 in the Black Friday craziness....I'll get one for FFXIII. I kind of want to wait anyway, to see if there will be some kind of special LE bundle.

...I want a white PS3!....j/k If the Xbox360 started as black, would you want it in white?

Which system do you think would best run this game?

Yeah, I expect I'll have both systems by the time this game hits, so I'd be interested in a comparison of the two versions. Unfortunately I don't believe Japan is getting the 360 version, so we won't know until the game is actually released here.

Unfortunately, most of what I'm hearing about FFXIII is not to my liking. The game is essentially a super-stripped FF experience. No towns. Ultra-linear. Basically reduced to cutscenes and combat and running down linear maps. Not much NPC interaction. Shops are integrated into save points. Meh. Half the fun of FF games is experiencing the world they take place in. This one doesn't let you do that. Sounds a lot like that drawn out interactive movie of a "game" Xenosaga. Which was not very fun at all. If I want to watch a FF Movie I'll pop Spirits Within or Advent Children in my PS3, not FFXIII.

It had better involve 500% less grinding than FFXI or I'll give it a pass.

Well, The Last Remnant plays well no xbox360 so I think ffxiii should be solid on the 360 platform.

heard a couple of things. (not verified)

-Game was made for the PS3 with the 360 being a port-Game will run on multiple disks on the 360 due to storage capacity

will the 360 have exclusive DLC?

http://www.finalfantasyxiii.com/

This would probably one of the few games I will be buying at launch this year.

No, neither version is a port, which is the entire reason for the game being delayed. They were developed independently using the same dev tools, and Square decided to release both versions at the same time, making PS3 owners wait.

As for exclusive 360 DLC, I highly doubt it. The 360 version is not a worldwide release. Japan will not see it at all. Only Europe and North America get the 360 version. Doesn't seem likely that Square would support the 360 version over the worldwide PS3 release.Plus I thought I read somewhere that Square already clarified there would be no DLC at all. Which makes sense for an FF game...they're not really the kind of game you can just tack extra stuff onto and have it work out well.

Jury is still out on it for me.

Graphics are awesome (FYI I'm PS3) music seems better than the last few.

Battles are slightly annoying. Everything happens pretty damn quick (for a guy who started with FFII back in the day...) and gets confusing. I'm not sure I dig the whole "lose your one main character and the game ends" deal. I mean, WTF, i thought that was what PD's are for.

The leveling system seems like a really overdone "hey let's make this complex just because we can" wank-session.

Also not a fan of the onscreen HUD lettering etc. On my 21" its WAY small and I gotta sit like 3 feet from the screen to make it out. GF has glasses and can't read it with them on even. I don't like bigger screens because things just seem to get pixelated, but with this game I'm thinking it might finally be time to get a bigger TV.

That said, the story seems to be going places, I like the datalog thingy and all the background they put into everything.

And I dig the Choco-Fro.

First I have to say I am tired of reviewers comparing this game to Fallout 3 and Mass Effect. Final Fantasy is a not an action RPG so if you want to hack, and shoot your way through levels this game is not for you.

I am about 6 hours into the game, so I guess I barely scratched the surface. So far it feels like an evolved FF game. As much as I miss the old school battle system FFX had, I can appreciate what Square did with this game. All the battles come fast and furious, you can no longer eat or drink while playing this game without putting it on pause. The stagger system is a new thing, it adds a little more strategy. Paradigms are just a fancy name for on the fly character class change. I guess this game is like Pokemon....you have to catch your Eidolons. j/k

my gripes so far:using Libra and Auto-Battle will select the best attack for you. -i feel I have been cheated the fun of figuring out what works best. When libra was used before it would give you a hint, but you still have to select the proper attack. Now you just use libra and auto-battle, lame. When your leader dies your game is over, really? I still have two left that can use phoenix down, they should be able to revive the leader. When i die, I deserve to go to my last save point, not to retry the same battle instantly, this takes away from the game as you are no longer worried about dying. In those regard the game experience could have been better, but what is there is worth playing. One thing for sure, don't expect the classic FF RPG.

FF will always have a certain charm.

I've been watching people play through this. The red haired chick is ANNOYING. That's all I've really gotten out of seeing it played so far.

Oh, and I like the Stagger system.

XIII really impressed me. The graphics are amazing and the story line is great. I love the crystarium system since it works like X's sphere grid system but I still miss leveling up and earning Gil when defeating a monster since the only way to earn Gil is selling items or finding them. I love the paradigm system since it's basically the job system that I love from the old FF's. The stagger gauge is a neat addition to battles, also. Eidolons look awesome. Shiva scissor-cycle ftw, lol.

The thing that I hate the most is that traveling is very linear and you won't be able to travel a free world-type place until Ch.11. While I love the crystarium system, they restrict you from improving your character and won't be able to freely improve all of them until Disc 3. If your character you're controlling dies in battle, it's game over. WTF, Square? The auto-heal after every battle thing is alright but I'm still pretty pissed that Square did this. Also, no mini-games. I love the mini-games previous FF titles had but the only thing to do other than the main storyline is the missions on Ch.11. The massive amounts of save points wasn't really necessary either with a cut scene going along after it 70% of the time.

Overall, the game really impressed me with the graphics and intriguing storyline but it still disappointed me with the linear gameplay and lack of mini-games.

Xbox 360 version has 3 discs due to DVD's lower capacity. And even with those 3 discs, there's a good deal of reduced visual quality to get everything to fit.
