Hey everyone, we'd like to present to you the 2010 North American Nissan Convention! I won't bore you with the details of what this convention is all about, because you can read through the history on the convention website here: http://www.nissanconvention.com

However, I will tell you that this is going to be huge! For the first time, NICO is hosting the entire event. This isn't just another NICOFEST, this is a Nissan/Infiniti/Datsun event completely by itself. NICO is hosting it, so we're going to make sure that we have the best possible event we can have.

Here's what we've got lined up for the event:Lapping: A full day of open road course driving (Friday)Drag: 1/8th mile dragstrip open all night (Friday)Drifting: A full day of open drifting practice (Saturday)Rally: 2 full days of open rally cross against the clock (Friday & Saturday)Car Show: For those of you who just want to look good (Sunday)Raffle: Tons of raffle prizes, and ALL NISSAN related!! (Sunday)Catered Picnic and Awards: Awards ceremony with good food to accompany it (Sunday)

More details are on the website, but feel free to use this forum to post up caravaning threads, picture threads, or anything else you want to talk about in regards to this convention.

Registration isn't up yet, but we do have the pricing and all the info on the website, so check it out!

Google shows me going through Nashville. I'll probably be leaving Wed afternoon though and hitting Nashville in the middle of the night. I need to be to Omaha by early Thursday afternoon at the latest. So if that works for you, that's fine with me.

You can do it. That's only 1 hour further than it is for me. Or you can always fly in just to hang out!

Hmmm. I may have to try hard to make this one. its 21 hours away. One stretch of road is 900+ miles and goes through like 4 states. I think I will try to have the 240 hatch ready to go out there and then I can track it lightly while hanging out and drive back.

I'll also see if the company I work for wants to be a sponsor.

Like Torry said, guys, you can always fly out. Book the flight as soon as you can in advance to save money, and have a great time!

Embassy Suites usually has a shuttle bus to take guests to & from the airport. I can check on that. But even if they don't, I'm sure somebody can swing by and pick you up. You won't be the only one flying in if you choose to take that route, so I'm sure there will be many "airport runs".

Although, if you fly in, I'd recommend renting a car. You might find it useful for the um...<cough>convention activities.

Sure! Just start a thread in this forum and see who you can round up! I'm sure there are plenty of people from CA coming.

For anyone who has never been to a NICO Meet of any kind, this would be the one to go to.

So, branson Z fest is on the same weekend, 600 miles south. If I have a 300zx do I have to choose between either one or the other??

Is there a way to combine them or have one on the next weekend? I think 6 months notice is enough to change venues or dates.

If you think you can do both events at the same time, go for it. Just don't expect to see many other Z cars at this event. Most of them will be at the Branson Z Fest that weekend. Branson Z Fest 2010 and 2011 have been scheduled since the last event.

Well, first of all Z's aren't the only car that Nissan makes, so it shouldn't hurt the event too bad. It's way too late to change venues or dates (for us anyway, not sure about Branson), but I've been exchanging some emails with Mike Pinckard about it and we are going to try to work something out together. With renting out an entire facility such as Mid America Motorplex, changing the dates to any weekend we choose is not as easy as it sounds. We've already signed the contract with the track as well as the hotel, so the location and date is a done deal.

But with that being said, I'm sure Mike and I can work out something.

The official convention hotel is the Embassy Suites in La Vista, NE. I'd highly advise staying there as opposed to anywhere else. You'll have more fun staying where everyone else is! We'll have more detailed hotel information up on the site soon!

I think what some people are pointing out is your event won't be ruined by the lack of Z attendance but the local z club ZoNE= (ZcarsofNEbraska) will be missing a large opportunity (80 members of Z cars, 240SXs, Infiniti G's and GTRs) with +140 more still owning cars in circulation still on mailing list all from the Omaha Metro area. With close ties to KC Z Club, Gateway Z Club, Chicago Z, and HAZCC. A lot of which are hard core track junkies that I know would have made the effort to attend.

I know Mike can't budge on the date it's been there for over a year and a 1/2 now so it's booked and set in stone but I also know once you've signed a date with "Roadkill" <--Track manager, you're locked too.

This is very unfortunate that you didn't check with local clubs or do more research on the dates...just saying please don't take it as an arguement.

I commend you for taking the initiative but wish you would have included more of the Z community. I would have even helped with local sponsorship.

We are doing another event Labor Day weekend at Mid America (also for Nissan enthusiests). I have run on the track quite a bit, instructed there also ,and for those of you that haven't.....well you're going to love it!! Imagine a track with no walls, wide enough to drive 4 cities buses side by side through, and lots...lots of speed on the straightaways!! My car averages 140 - 150+ on the main straight!!
