I dont know if this has been posted here yet, but this is the first official pic of the 6th gen Nissan Maxima. This is straight from Nissans website, I think it will look wayyy to much like an altima. Here is what Nissan Says about it:Quote »Muscular Performance and the Looks to Match. The all-new 2004 Nissan Maxima offers the soul of the Z®, wrapped in a muscular, premium sports sedan design. Set to debut on January 5, 2003 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Maxima combines aggressive performance, agile and responsive handling and an innovative interior. The new Maxima goes on sale next spring as a 2004 model.[/quote]

This was posted on supraforums.com. This is a photochop that makes the car look alot better, but I still think there needs to be a seperation between altima and maxima.

I saw a pic of a prototype being driven in SoCal, and it was actually an Altima with the taillights and headlights all taped up. You could see where they cut and welded the new taillights on.

Yes it looks way too much like an Altima. I understand the need to build on similar platforms and have parts interchange but they went just a tad overboard with this one. IMO.

So this is Nissan's version of a 350z Sedan?Haha, the styling is too similar. Nissan is turning towards Audi's way of doing business, and that means "make every version of every car have the same general look to it".

Crappy.

I don't know about a 350Z sedan, but the rear looks like a Spec-v and front what I can tell the front looks like a G35. Looks like a VW or Audi from the side.

You know everyone, I have been worried for some time now about what the new Maxima will end up looking like. The one in that picture Brian posted doesnt look all that bad at all. Yeah it kinda has the lines of the Altima, but is that a bad thing? It looks much bigger than an Altima and if that pic is indeed the new Maxima, I believe that there is enough to differentiate it from the Altima. About my only gripe so far.. the rear doors. I'm not sure how I feel about those yet.

All brand new generations of any car have to grow on me over time. I mean, the fifth gen Max sure did! When it debuted in 2000 I did not much care for it, and now looky what I drive! It's pretty safe for me to predict that I will be drooling over this new Max in a couple of years like I am my very own now.

I would have to agree with the audi/altima affect. Even the rims "too me" look like the altima's injected with roids! I like the older gen. better, just like TonyVQ's!!!

yea. i have to agree w/ Rubin. those rims are altima rims, and i definately like the 5th gen. Max's better. Tony's is the only one i have seen up close, and holy jeez, i about creamed my pants. when he opened the hood, that motor just kinda tackles you its so big. i'm still in awe

like the new ones like the old ones , i think i like maximas , come to think of it ive never seen one i didnt like........and this one went back to independednt rear , ill probably concider it sometime later , but will probably opt for the G35. altimas look great and sell well , makes sense not to buck the trend , it worked for audi , look at the turn around there , think about it ..outgrow the a4? well why not go to a a6? just bigger and it doesnt look much diffrent so it makes perfect sense , if someone liked the a4 but counldnt fit into it sell them a a6 and you wont have to worry about them not likeing it ..welcome to selling cars in america , the land of people that look at cars like they are a refrigerator , they dot realize a car is more than a appliance

Call me old fashioned but cars don't look as good as they did in the 90's. Too Futuristic.

I agree with you, but i like the mid 90's cars the best, S14s, 94+ Integras....cars in general.......the right amount of curves with the right amount of box.

I agree about some cars too, in that they are trying to go to futuristic to quick. But then after i seen a 350Z up close it grew on me, but the R35 is ugly. just my $0.02:cool:

I dig the MaX! I hasve the 02 Altima and 02 spec V,this 04 MaX looks to be a mix of MaX, Altima, and Spec V-With a slight hint of 305z/G35.A good combo in my book! I think the wheels look likee a MaX the Altima ones are flat, these look more tubular.
