okay so i picked up a set of 16.5x10 rims today for my truck to find out the bolt pattern is slightly off

bolt pattern on the rims i got is 8x6.5 which is 98 and older ford 8lug trucks

bolt pattern for my truck (99 f250 sd) is 8x170mm and seems to be just like 3-4 mm bigger then the rims.

question: could i drill out the existing holes on the rims just slightly and then use tapered lugnuts (the pointed tip'd things) to fill into the holes and keep the rim's balanced on the truck?

also rims are made of steel and i dont want to re-drill new holes and fill in or just leave other holes alone because 1) 16 holes in a rim with not much space in between would more then likly lead to warping real quick and 2) re-drilling new holes and filling in old holes would probibly again lead to warping due to excess heat and not much meat..

No! under no circumstances should you attempt to drill a new lug hole or enlarge existing lug holes.

There are so many failure horror stories in the industry, just reading your post gives me the creeps. Seriously this idea of yours is common, but quite frankly, horrible. Not your fault..

16.5 is fast being outdated anyways. Stick with a standard size and ignore those wheels, period.

i realize it can be done, but redrilling anything thats that important isnt as easy, to me at leat, as just doing it.

got to look at less amounts of material which leads to warping/breaking etc or just drilling out the holes in it self could make the rim unbalanced on the hub.

i went ahead and asked a shop in a different state about it and they said they could do it but cant gaurante a balanced fit. so im not going to do it anyways.

but also yeah 16.5 is a pain to look for tires for!

thanks for the help guys!
