I'm pretty sure nobody has slapped some off road rims/tires on their rogue, but I'd like to know what size/measurements I should be looking at. This is the style of rim I'm talking about: Image

Since my stock rims are 18s I was thinking the off road rims should be 17s?

Will that look as good though? I was thinking of leaving them on year round.

I just looked at one on eBay. It looks too much like I'd be missing a hubcap.
I've found wheels 16x7 5-114.3 with 0mm offset.... Don't know how that offset will affect my suspension.... I have also found geolander all terrain tires on tirerack in the stock Rogue S size. I guess it's just the offset I'm unsure of.

ImStricken, I was thinking maybe these tires in 235/65-16 http://m.tirerack.com/tires/TireDetails ... TR7D695OWL

And these rims in 16x8 http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direc ... &typ=Truck

What do you think?

So the problem I'm having is that offset. I called discount tire and the guy said with that offset, the wheel would be sticking out about 2" more than oem and may not fit. He told me to choose a more car like wheel. I don't want one.... He pointed me to this too: Image because it has a 18mm offset which is better than 0mm but I'm not sure I like it that much. Anybody have experience with 0mm offset on their rogue?

And there's these with 13mm offset too http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direc ... &typ=Truck

They even come in 16x7 with 0 offset

I stopped by the dealer today to talk to the Gm who has a bunch of hookups regarding car modding. I'm going to see a guy tomorrow and see my options... But ImStricken may be on to something. I can probably get 17x7" steelies for nothing, from a car they put rims on or something, and he can help me out with tires. Cool, cool

there you go. those black rims you showed us look almost exactly like steelies. i'd just paint the steels a high gloss black and call it a day

I was also thinking of getting a chrome center cap (if be fits one steelies) to emulate a cragar wheel. Impala pc1 center caps come to mind lol

I'm thinking Yokohama Geolander AT/S. Comes in stock 17" Rogue tire size

Hmmmm... So I may have had an epiphany.... Instead of adding the unsprung weight of steel wheels over my OEM alloys, and having the wheels not looks all that great as a result of being steelies.... I'm thinking of finding out how much it would be to paint/get my OEM wheels painted gloss black and just getting those Yokohama Geolander All Terrain tires in my 225/55-18 stock tire size (they come in that size!).....

What do you guys think about that? Anybody have a hookup, or know how much it would cost to get 4 wheels painted in the NYC/NJ area?

paint on wheels never lasts. you need to have them powdercoated. its a MUCH stronger/thicker paint. you can use plastidip, since that will last for years.

I suppose I can use black plastidip and plastidip glosifier to make it shiny and glossy. I want a deep wet look to the wheels. From watching dipyourcar.com videos I think it can come out nicely with no texture if I take my time. Cuts down on the prep work in a major way too. I'll probably go that route

there will be texture to plastidip; even with clear.

Don't start making me confused about what I want to do now lol.....

I've watched a few videos from dipyourcar.com on YouTube and he explains how to spray the plastidip so it comes out smooth. Its different than spraying paint and you have to change it up to spray plastidip the proper way but apparently it can be done.

Check this video out. He explains and goes through the process perfectly.

So I've decided against spending $800 on offroad tires for the Rogue. Instead I've decided it will be a better idea to spend a few hundred more than that on an actual off-road machine instead of trying to turn my Rogue into one...

So I'm scouting Craigslist right now for used Jeep Wranglers in the $2000-$2500 range. Anybody know of one, let me know :naughty:

That's probably the best idea. The rogue isn't really designed for any offroad type driving.

I did kind of want to see what it looked like if you got the tires and wheels but if you want to do serious offroading another vehicle is definitely the better choice.

Going to look at a 92 Wrangler 4.0 5mt tomorrow in New Jersey. Garage kept, says there's no rust, 125k miles for $3700

So over the past few days I've come to realize that there are a lot of busted Jeeps out there.... Until I went to see one today....

Here is my new (to me) 1992 Jeep Wrangler (with 75,000 original miles!!!!):

Image

Its a 4 cyl 5 speed manual... There is barely any rust and all the lights and electronics work (even the rear wiper blade on the hardtop).

The only problems: Its a little loud (it may have an exhaust leak or something), there is a rattle that I think is being caused by a heat shield (no big deal), The temp gauge and oil pressure gauge aren't working properly, it needs tires, and the synchros in the transmission are on their way out. But I just drove it 1.5 hours to get it back home and the trans is more of a pita than super major issue right now......

I couldn't believe it.... At 70mph, this thing tracks perfectly straight..... Great truck for the money. The guy is a VFF and even let me keep the light on the dash lol.....

I paid $3250 for it!
