Hello, i recently purchased an 03 m45. The car is an absolute gem with very low milage and is in near mint condition. I absolutely love the car, one of the prettiest cars on the road. The only visible flaw is the rear bumper. It is noticably darker than the rest of the car. I have noticed in several photo's of other people's m45s on this site that their rear bumper is also darker. My car is gold, I noticed it on both green and white m45 photos, and it seems on most of the car photo's I look at their is at least a slight shade variance with the rear bumper, some greater than others.

Think it was repainted, or do others notice what I notice and think it may just be the way paint ages on differnet surfaces (metal v. plastic)?

Thanks for any input.

With some colors it is a bit harder to match the paint on the metal body and plastic bumpers and trim pieces. Or it is possible that yours was repainted. Try looking around the edges, that is where you usually can notice overspray and clues that it has been paintedCheers

Bumpers are sprayed with flex paint. This a totally different compound than whats on the metal surface. It is mixed separately from the body. Bumpers are also shot off the car. This leads to inevitable mismatching on light colors. Also Flex paint fades to UV at different rates than body paint.

its something with how the paint sticks to the surface.

i have a 01 acura TL in white diamond pearl. most of the production cars in acura come out in a pearlescent effect. most of the lighter cars, you can notice a slight different.
