I just bought an OEM satellite receiver for a 07 m35. I was wondering is anyone has installed one of these units? Also where do locate the unit? Is it located in the trunk? Does anyone have any pictures of the install?

Thanks for your help

Did you buy the entire harness?

It goes in the trunk right under the passenger side speaker (on the rear deck lid), but the car isn't pre-wired for it...so if you didn't buy the harness...well...you just bought a really expensive paper weight.

The unit was $125. I have the harness from Infiniti. Thanks for the feed back, I was looking at the trunk (I have not pulled the trunk liner out yet), so I can easily see where the unit is mounted. I will have to pull the liner I guess to see where it all is. I assume the harness is run from the head unit to the satellite receiver? It is hard to tell but I guess I will have to figure it out.

Thanks for the feed back, do you know of anywhere on this forum where I can find instructions for installing the xm factory unit. I am really looking for photos or step by step.

Thanks

I know most of these posts are a bit old but I got a good deal on a 07 M35 and I had to buy it. I am looking to get XM radio and potentially iPod connection. Any thoughts? is the car pre wired for satellite radio? should I buy OEM Vs aftermarket? Any comments would be appreciated.

My car was pre wired, I have the completely loaded model, nav etc. I bought the reciever from a scarp dealer. It is an oem nissan unit. I installed it and it was plugged into the wiring harness.
Wiring and mounting is in the truck under the bose unit

In terms of the ipod, you will need to get an after market unit.

good luck

No the antenna, you will need to buy, look it up at cructhfeild. you will have to install it on the roof, it is magnetic, and chase the wires under the window trim and into the truck. You might need to drill a hole in the lip of the truck. I did not I just poked a hole through the truck lid gasket and siliconed it after I was done.

It was an easy install took about 10 min to complete.

I had a cat button on my system, so that told me it was pre wired. If you have that option on your control panel you are good to go. If not you will need to get a pro to set you up.

Good luck

Bumping this up cause I'm in the market for satellite radio and iPod connection in my 06 M35x...

So what's the most cost effective unit and way to get satillite, iPod and USB in my 06 M? I do have the CAT option on my dashboard - anyone ahve any input?

Thanks!

Axefire, if you have the Nav and Tech upgrades, you already have the shark fin antenna and may also even have the XM unit in the trunk. To test, push either the SOURCE button on the left side of your steering wheel, or the CAT button in your center panel where the radio presets are. Either should eventually pull up XM-1.
Even if you don't see XM-1 .... check inside the trunk - on the passenger side rear shelf - others have found they DID have the unit, but it was un-plugged. I'd hate to see you go out and buy a unit only to see an unplugged unit in your trunk when you begin the install.
Here is the original thread with lots of info including installation I believe:

Best of luck!

No unit, I checked - no fin either so I guess I'm wrong about the tech? I do have the harness and bracket to mount it though? So I figure I need the XM unit and run cables to my center console for iPod and USB? Going to the link you provided for more info - thanks Larz

I had the same issue my car is loaded except for the factory XM- therefore the antenna was deleted. I went to crutchfeild and bought and xms antenna, magnetic low profile. Works great and can be installed anywhere except the truck lid. I have had mine for two years now and it works great.

My M was pre wired with the harness installed and wrapped up in the truck just above the amp. took 10 min to bolt in and hook up the antenna. Once it was plugged in, powered up the car and bingo xm was running. I use the radio button to switch from am to fm to xm.

Best of luck

I have the same car - the XM receiver is located on the bottom side of the package shelf on the passenger side of the trunk. I thought I had read in previous threads that the wiring is always there, whether you have factory installed XM or not. There should be at least three cables - power, audio system interconnect and satellite antenna. You might look up some of the threads on the USASpec installations as they had good photos.
